The six-dimensional Ising model with nearest-neighbor pair interactions is simulated on the Creutz cellular automaton by using the finite-size lattices with the linear dimensions L=4,6,8,10. The temperature variations and the finite-size scaling plots of the specific heat and Binder parameter verify the theoretically predicted expression near the infinite lattice critical temperature. The approximate values for the critical temperature of the infinite lattice TC=10.838(1), TC=10.836(20) and TC=10.835(1) are obtained from the intersection points of specific heat curves, Binder parameter curves and the straight line fit of specific heat maxima, respectively. These results are in agreement with the more precise value of TC=10.835(5). The value obtained for the critical exponent of the specific heat, i.e., =0.012(2) is also in agreement with =0 predicted by the theory. 相似文献

It is established that the subset of freek-generated subsemigroups of the semigroup of all automaton transformations over a finite alphabet is a second category set
(in the sense of the Baire category approach) in the set of allk-generated subsemigroups. A continuum series of pairs of automaton transformations each of which generates a free semigroup
of rank two is indicated. A criterion is established for this semigroup to be a finite-automaton group.

We investigate the dynamics of ensembles of diffusive defects in one-dimensional deterministic cellular automata. The work builds on earlier results on individual random walks in cellular automata. Here we give a natural condition guaranteeing diffusive behavior also in the presence of other defects. Simple branching and birth mechanisms are introduced and prototype classes of cellular automata exhibiting weakly interacting walks capable of annihilation and coalescence are studied. Their equilibrium behavior is also characterized. The design principles of cellular automata with desired diffusive interaction properties become transparent from this analysis. 相似文献

Cyclic cellular automata are two-dimensional cellular automata which generalize lattice versions of the Lorentz gas and certain biochemistry models of artificial life. We show that rotators and time reversibility play a special role in the creation of closed orbits in cyclic cellular automata. We also prove that almost every orbit is closed (periodic) and the absence of diffusion for the flipping rotator model (also known as the ant). 相似文献

In Kauffman's Boolean automata model on the square lattice, the Darwinian fitness of survival can be defined as the fraction of elements which do not change from one iteration to the next. Biological mutations are simulated by filpping one bit in the rule of one site. Selection of the fitter mutant then optimizes the whole lattice completely. This optimization is particularly effective near the critical point of the transition to chaos, but is in itself not a critical phenomenon. Nonlinear statistical properties of Ventral Tegmental Area (VTA) of limbic brain are studied in vivo. VTA plays key role in generation of pleasure and in development of psychological drug addiction. It is shown that spiking

Local structure theory calculations7 are applied to the study of cellular automata on the two-dimensional hexagonal lattice. A particular hexagonal lattice rule denoted (3422) is considered in detail. This rule has many features in common with Conway'sLife. The local structure theory captures many of the statistical properties of this rule; this supports hypotheses raised by a study ofLife itself(6). As inLife, the state of a cell under (3422) depends only on the state of the cell itself and the sum of states in its neighborhood at the previous time step. This property implies that evolution rules which operate in the same way can be studied on different lattices. The differences between the behavior of these rules on different lattices are dramatic. The mean field theory cannot reflect these differences. However, a generalization of the mean field theory, the local structure theory, does account for the rule-lattice interaction. 相似文献

We apply ideas from commutative algebra, and Morita theory to algebraic topology using ring spectra. This allows us to prove new duality results in algebra and topology, and to view (1) Poincaré duality for manifolds, (2) Gorenstein duality for commutative rings, (3) Benson–Carlson duality for cohomology rings of finite groups, (4) Poincaré duality for groups and (5) Gross–Hopkins duality in chromatic stable homotopy theory as examples of a single phenomenon. 相似文献
