Weak Morrey spaces and strong solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations

We consider the Cauchy problem of Navier-Stokes equations in weak Morrey spaces. We first define a class of weak Morrey type spaces Mp*,λ(Rn) on the basis of Lorentz space Lp,∞ = Lp*(Rn)(in particular, Mp*,0(Rn) = Lp,∞, if p ＞ 1), and study some fundamental properties of them; Second,bounded linear operators on weak Morrey spaces, and establish the bilinear estimate in weak Morrey spaces. Finally, by means of Kato's method and the contraction mapping principle, we prove that the Cauchy problem of Navier-Stokes equations in weak Morrey spaces Mp*,λ(Rn) (1＜p≤n) is time-global well-posed, provided that the initial data are sufficiently small. Moreover, we also obtain the existence and uniqueness of the self-similar solution for Navier-Stokes equations in these spaces, because the weak Morrey space Mp*,n-p(Rn) can admit the singular initial data with a self-similar structure. Hence this paper generalizes Kato's results.     

Entropy, independent sets and antichains: A new approach to Dedekind's problem

For -regular, -vertex bipartite graphs with bipartition , a precise bound is given for the sum over independent sets of the quantity . (In other language, this is bounding the partition function for certain instances of the hard-core model.) This result is then extended to graded partially ordered sets, which in particular provides a simple proof of a well-known bound for Dedekind's Problem given by Kleitman and Markowsky in 1975.

Boundary integral equation method in micropolar elasticity

This paper presents the integral representations of the displacement and rotation fields of the micropolar continuum, and the regularized integral representations of the traction and couple vector. Thus the boundary integral equations and the boundary integro-differential equations are derived. In addition, the formulation for crack problems is given by both the boundary integral equations and the boundary integro-differential equations.     

Some asymptotic expansions of moments of order statistics

Series expansions of moments of order statistics are obtained from expansions of the inverse of the distribution function. They are valid for certain types of distributions with regularly varying tails. We show that the expansions converge quickly when the sample size is moderate to large, and we obtain bounds on the rate of convergence. The special case of the Cauchy distribution is treated in more detail.
