A Generalization of a Two-Parameter Quantization for the Group GL 2(k)

We generalize a well-known two-parameter quantization for the group GL ₂(k) (over an arbitrary field k). Specifically, a certain class of Hopf algebras is constructed containing that quantization. The algebras are constructed given an arbitrary coalgebra and an arbitrary pair of its commuting anti-isomorphisms, and are defined by quadratic relations. They are densely linked to the compact quantum groups introduced by Woronowicz. We give examples of Hopf algebras that can be rowed up to the two-parameter quantization for GL ₂(k).     

Weak Attractive Ligand–Polymer and Related Interactions in Catalysis and Reactivity: Impact,Applications, and Modeling

The notion of weak attractive ligand–polymer interactions is introduced, and its potential application, importance, and conceptual links with “cooperative” ligand–substrate interactions are discussed. Synthetic models of weak attractive ligand–polymer interactions are described, in which intramolecular weak C? H???F? C interactions (the existence of which remains contentious) have been detected by NMR spectroscopy and neutron and X‐ray diffraction experiments. These C? H???F? C interactions carry important implications for the design of catalysts for olefin polymerization, because they provide support for the practical feasibility of ortho‐F???H_β ligand–polymer contacts proposed for living Group 4 fluorinated phenoxyimine catalysts. The notion of weak attractive noncovalent interactions between an “active” ligand and the growing polymer chain is a novel concept in polyolefin catalysis.     

Thermolyzable polymer networks and star polymers containing a novel,compact, degradable acylal‐based dimethacrylate cross‐linker: Synthesis,characterization, and thermolysis

A compact, cleavable acylal dimethacrylate cross‐linker, 1,1‐ethylenediol dimethacrylate (EDDMA), was synthesized from the anhydrous iron(III) chloride‐catalyzed reaction between methacrylic anhydride and acetaldehyde. The ability of EDDMA to act as cross‐linker was demonstrated by using it for the preparation of one neat cross‐linker network, four star polymers of methyl methacrylate (MMA), and four randomly cross‐linked MMA polymer networks using group transfer polymerization (GTP). For comparison, the corresponding polymer structures based on the commercially available ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) cross‐linker (isomer of EDDMA) were also prepared via GTP. The number of arms of the EDDMA‐based star polymers was lower than that of the corresponding EGDMA polymers, whereas the degrees of swelling in tetrahydrofuran of the EDDMA‐based MMA networks were higher than those of their EGDMA‐based counterparts. Although none of the EDDMA‐containing polymers could be cleanly hydrolyzed under basic or acidic conditions, they could be thermolyzed at 200 °C within 1 day giving lower molecular weight products. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cyclic BSEC of block size 3

Balanced sampling plans excluding contiguous units (or BSEC) were first introduced by Hedayat, Rao and Stufken in 1988. In this note, we discuss constructions of these designs having cyclic automorphisms. We use Langford sequences to construct all possible cyclic BSEC (or CBSEC) with block size 3 and λ = 1,2, which establishes the necessary and sufficient conditions for such designs. Some constructions of the balanced sampling plan avoiding adjacent units, a generalization of BSEC, are also given for fixed λ.     

Algebraic cycles and topology of real Enriques surfaces

For a real Enriques surface Y we prove that every homology class in H₁(Y (R), Z/2) can be represented by a real algebraic curve if and only if all connected components of Y(R) are orientable. Furthermore, we give a characterization of real Enriques surfaces which are Galois-Maximal and/or Z-Galois-Maximal and we determine the Brauer group of any real Enriques surface Y.

Vector Lattices on a Set of Two Generators

It is proved that the center of an automorphism group Aut(FVL2) of a free vector lattice FVL2 on a set of two free generators is isomorphic to a multiplicative group of positive reals. It is shown that the free vector lattice FVL2 has an isomorphic representation by continuous piecewise linear functions of the real line; as a consequence, the ideal lattice and the root system for rectifying ideals in FVL2 are amply described. Similar results are obtained for a free vector lattice FVL2 _Q 2 generated by two elements over a field of rational numbers.     

关于循环阵列码

本文用代数观点来研究循环阵列码,证明了一般的阵列码是一些极小循环阵列码的直和,并且对极小循环阵列码给出了明确的刻画．当有限域的特征不整除群的阶时,给出了直接写出相应的多项式环的本原幂等元的方法,从而可以直接写出所有的极小循环码．     

Highly soluble and optically transparent poly (ether imide)s based on 2,6‐ or 2,7‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenoxy)naphthalene dianhydride and aromatic bis(ether amine)s bearing trifluoromethyl groups

Two series of novel fluorinated poly(ether imide)s (coded IIIA and IIIB ) were prepared from 2,6‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenoxy)naphthalene dianhydride and 2,7‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxyphenoxy)naphthalene dianhydride, respectively, with various trifluoromethyl‐substituted aromatic bis(ether amine)s by a standard two‐step process with thermal or chemical imidization of the poly(amic acid) precursors. These fluorinated poly(ether imide)s showed good solubility in many organic solvents and could be solution‐cast into transparent, flexible, and tough films. These films were nearly colorless, with an ultraviolet–visible absorption edge of 364–386 nm. They also showed good thermal stability with glass‐transition temperatures of 221–298 °C, 10% weight loss temperatures in excess of 489 °C, and char yields at 800 °C in nitrogen greater than 50%. The 2,7‐substituted IIIB series also showed better solubility and higher transparency than the isomeric 2,6‐substituted IIIA series. In comparison with nonfluorinated poly (ether imide)s, the fluorinated IIIA and IIIB series showed better solubility, higher transparency, and lower dielectric constants and water absorption. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
