Rankin-Cohen brackets on pseudodifferential operators

Pseudodifferential operators that are invariant under the action of a discrete subgroup Γ of SL(2,R) correspond to certain sequences of modular forms for Γ. Rankin-Cohen brackets are noncommutative products of modular forms expressed in terms of derivatives of modular forms. We introduce an analog of the heat operator on the space of pseudodifferential operators and use this to construct bilinear operators on that space which may be considered as Rankin-Cohen brackets. We also discuss generalized Rankin-Cohen brackets on modular forms and use these to construct certain types of modular forms.     

Addendum and Corrigendum to "Local Saturation of Conservative Operators'

In this note we make a correction in the paper [1] by two of the authors. Specifically we modify an auxiliary localization result and prove that the applications to the saturation theory of some outstanding conservative operators remain valid. Moreover, we enrich a corollary dealing with the well-known Szász-Mirakjan operators. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

Algebras of Random Operators Associated to Delone Dynamical Systems

We carry out a careful study of operator algebras associated with Delone dynamical systems. A von Neumann algebra is defined using noncommutative integration theory. Features of these algebras and the operators they contain are discussed. We restrict our attention to a certain C ^*-subalgebra to discuss a Shubin trace formula.

设Ｈ为复的可分无限维Ｈｉｌｂｅｒｔ空间，称有界线性算子Ｔ为强不可约的，如果与Ｔ可交换的幂等算子只有０和Ｉ．王宗尧、蒋春澜、纪有清等人证明了在任何一个套的套代数中都存在大量的强不可约算子，并且找到了它们的酉轨道闭包．本文考虑有限个套的张量积的代数中强不可约算子的存在性问题。证明了：对复平面上任何一个连通完备集σ、总存在一个对角算子Ｎ和它的一个范数可以任意小的紧摄动Ｔ＝Ｘ＋Ｋ，使得Ｔ是一个强不可约算子、Ｔ在有限个良序套的张量积的代数中，并且σ（Ｔ）＝σｌｒｅ（Ｔ）＝σ（Ｎ）＝σｌｒｅ（Ｎ）＝σ进一步，文章还对具有单点谱的算子和良序套与正交补为良序套的张量积的代数进行了讨论，得到了一些结果．     

Separable anisotropic differential operators and applications

The nonlocal boundary value problems for anisotropic partial differential-operator equations with a dependent coefficients are studied. The principal parts of the appropriate generated differential operators are nonself-adjoint. Several conditions for the maximal regularity and the fredholmness in Banach-valued Lp-spaces of these problems are given. These results permit us to establish that the inverse of corresponding differential operators belongs to Schatten q-class. Some spectral properties of the operators are investigated. In applications, the nonlocal BVP's for quasielliptic partial differential equations and for systems of quasielliptic equations on cylindrical domain are studied.     

The double exponential map and covariant derivation

We study the double exponential map which is a composition of a special form of two exponential maps on a manifold with connection. We relate this map and the composition of covariant derivations as well as the composition of pseudodifferential operators on these manifolds.     

On distributionally regenerative processes

The paper is concerned with characterization results for distributional regeneration. It is shown that distributional regeneration is equivalent to renewal representation of the associated (shift) Markov operator. A sufficient condition for the distributional regeneration of the transfer operator in terms of variation is also formulated. Finally, a minorization condition is formulated and proved to be sufficient for recurrent co-Feller operators.     

Discrete duality finite volume schemes for Leray−Lions−type elliptic problems on general 2D meshes

Discrete duality finite volume schemes on general meshes, introduced by Hermeline and Domelevo and Omnès for the Laplace equation, are proposed for nonlinear diffusion problems in 2D with nonhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. This approach allows the discretization of non linear fluxes in such a way that the discrete operator inherits the key properties of the continuous one. Furthermore, it is well adapted to very general meshes including the case of nonconformal locally refined meshes. We show that the approximate solution exists and is unique, which is not obvious since the scheme is nonlinear. We prove that, for general W^?1,p′(Ω) source term and W^1‐(1/p),p(?Ω) boundary data, the approximate solution and its discrete gradient converge strongly towards the exact solution and its gradient, respectively, in appropriate Lebesgue spaces. Finally, error estimates are given in the case where the solution is assumed to be in W^2,p(Ω). Numerical examples are given, including those on locally refined meshes. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three classes of smooth Banach submanifolds in B(E,F)

Let E, F be two Banach spaces, and B(E, F), Φ(E, F), SΦ(E, F) and R(E,F) be the bounded linear, Fredholm, semi-Frdholm and finite rank operators from E into F, respectively. In this paper, using the continuity characteristics of generalized inverses of operators under small perturbations, we prove the following result Let ∑ be any one of the following sets {T ∈ Φ(E, F) IndexT =const, and dim N(T) = const.}, {T ∈ SΦ(E, F) either dim N(T) = const. ＜ ∞ or codim R(T) = const.＜ ∞} and {T ∈ R(E, F) RankT =const.＜∞}. Then ∑ is a smooth submanifold of B(E, F) with the tangent space TA∑ = {B ∈ B(E,F) BN(A) (∪) R(A)} for any A ∈ ∑. The result is available for the further application to Thom's famous results on the transversility and the study of the infinite dimensional geometry.
