A finite‐volume scheme for the stationary unipolar quantum drift‐diffusion equations for semiconductors in several space dimensions is analyzed. The model consists of a fourth‐order elliptic equation for the electron density, coupled to the Poisson equation for the electrostatic potential, with mixed Dirichlet‐Neumann boundary conditions. The numerical scheme is based on a Scharfetter‐Gummel type reformulation of the equations. The existence of a sequence of solutions to the discrete problem and its numerical convergence to a solution to the continuous model are shown. The focus of the present study is to obtain exact solutions for the flow of a viscous hydromagnetic fluid due to the rotation of an infinite disk in the presence of an axial uniform steady magnetic field with the inclusion of Hall current effect. In place of the traditional von Karman's axisymmetric evolution of the flow, the rotational non-axisymmetric stationary conducting flow is taken into consideration here, whose governing equations allow an exact solution to develop bounded everywhere in the normal direction to the wall.The three-dimensional equations of motion are treated analytically yielding derivation of exact solutions, which differ from those of corresponding to the classical von Karman's conducting flow. Making use of this solution, analytical formulas for the angular velocity components, for the current density field as well as for the wall shear stresses are extracted. The critical peripheral locations at which extrema of the local skin friction occur are also determined. It is proved from the analytical results that for the specific flow the properly defined thicknesses decay as the magnetic field strength increases in magnitude, approaching their hydrodynamic value in the limit of large Hall numbers.Interaction of the resolved flow field with the surrounding temperature is further analyzed via the energy equation. The temperature field is shown to accord with the dissipation function. According to the Fourier's heat law, a constant heat transfer from the disk to the fluid occurs, though it increases by the presence of magnetic field, the increase is slowed down by the Hall effect eventually reaching its hydrodynamic limit.  相似文献

Assisting and opposing flows in a mixed convection boundary layer flow over an isothermal vertical plate are studied for the case of variable physical properties and uniform free stream. Fluid viscosity and thermal conductivity are assumed to be linear functions of temperature. Using local similarity the flow and heat transfer quantities are found to be functions of four parameters, i.e. Richardson number, Prandtl number, a viscosity variation parameter and a thermal conductivity variation parameter. Numerical solutions are obtained by two methods, a shooting technique and Nachtsheim-Swigert technique, for selected values of parameters appropriate for the fluids considered and specific temperatures of the plate and ambient fluid. For assisting flows, there exist solutions for all values of Richardson number while for opposing flows solutions exist only for a finite set of its values and, in addition, there also exist dual solutions. Important flow and heat transfer quantities of practical interest are determined and the influence of different parameters is discussed.  相似文献

Active scalars appear in many problems of fluid dynamics. The most common examples of active scalar equations are 2D Euler, Burgers, and 2D surface quasi-geostrophic equations. Many questions about regularity and properties of solutions of these equations remain open. We develop the idea of nonlocal maximum principle introduced in Kiselev, Nazarov and Volberg (2007) [19], formulating a more general criterion and providing new applications. The most interesting application is finite time regularization of weak solutions in the supercritical regime.  相似文献
