Bloch spaces on bounded symmetric domains in complex Banach spaces Dedicated to Professor Sheng GONG on the occasion of his 75th birthday

We give a definition of Bloch space on bounded symmetric domains in arbitrary complex Banach space and prove such function space is a Banach space. The properties such as boundedness, compactness and closed range of composition operators on such Bloch space are studied.     

Reduction of operator families to integral form

We establish a condition for reducibility of a family of operators to integral form by an isometric operator the same for the whole family.     

Asymptotic behavior of Markov semigroups on preduals of von Neumann algebras

We develop a new approach for investigation of asymptotic behavior of Markov semigroup on preduals of von Neumann algebras. With using of our technique we establish several results about mean ergodicity, statistical stability, and constrictiviness of Markov semigroups.     

Weyl type theorem and hypercyclic operators

Using a variant of the essential approximate point spectrum, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for T for which the a-Browder's theorem or the a-Weyl's theorem holds. Also, the relation between hypercyclic operators (or supercyclic operators) and the operators which satisfy Weyl type theorem is discussed.     

Approximation characteristics for diagonal operators in different computational settings

First we study several extremal problems on minimax, and prove that they are equivalent. Then we connect this result with the exact values of some approximation characteristics of diagonal operators in different settings, such as the best n-term approximation, the linear average and stochastic n-widths, and the Kolmogorov and linear n-widths. Most of these exact values were known before, but in terms of equivalence of these extremal problems, we present a unified approach to give them a direct proof.     

On the boundary value problem for the spectrally loaded heat conduction operator

We consider the boundary value problems in a quarter-plane for a loaded heat conduction operator (one-dimensional in the space variable). A peculiarity of the operator in question is as follows: first, the spectral parameter is the coefficient of the loaded summand; second, the order of the derivative in the loaded summand is equal to that of the differential part of the operator, and third, the load point moves with a variable velocity. We demonstrate that the boundary value problem under study is Noetherian.     

Persistence of Eigenvalues and Multiplicity in the Dirichlet Problem for the Laplace Operator on Nonsmooth Domains

We consider the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator on a variable nonsmooth domain. We extend a result of Lupo and Micheletti concerning the structure of the set of domain perturbations which leave the multiplicity of an eigenvalue unchanged, and we study the set of perturbations which leave a certain eigenvalue unchanged.     

Complexity of finite sequences of zeros and ones and geometry of finite spaces of functions

The sequence 001 001 001 001 is simpler than 01 001 0111 001. We present a formal mathematical theory that gives an exact meaning to the preceding (intuitively clear) statement. On classes of analytic functions defined by convolution with incomplete beta functions

Carlson and Shaffer [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 15 (1984) 737-745] defined a convolution operator L(a,c) on the class A of analytic functions involving an incomplete beta function ?(a,c;z) as L(a,c)f=?(a,c)?f. We use this operator to introduce certain classes of analytic functions in the unit disk and study their properties including some inclusion results, coefficient and radius problems. It is shown that these classes are closed under convolution with convex functions.     

A diffusion equation in transparent media

In this paper we study the homogeneous relativistic heat equation (HRHE) obtained as asymptotic limit of the so-called relativistic heat equation (RHE) when the kinematic viscosity ν → ∞. These equations were introduced in the theory of radiation hydrodynamics to guarantee a bounded speed of propagation of radiating energy. We shall prove that this is indeed true, and we shall construct some explicit solutions of the HRHE exhibiting fronts propagating at light speed.
