Hermite Interpolation and Sobolev Orthogonality

In this paper, we study orthogonal polynomials with respect to the bilinear form (f, g) _S = V(f) A V(g) ^T + <u, f ^(N) g ^(N)V(f) =(f(c ₀), f "(c ₀), ..., f ^{(n – 1)} ₀(c ₀), ..., f(c _p ), f "(c _p ), ..., f ^{(n – 1)} _p(c _p )) u is a regular linear functional on the linear space P of real polynomials, c ₀, c ₁, ..., c _p are distinct real numbers, n ₀, n ₁, ..., n _p are positive integer numbers, N=n ₀+n ₁+...+n _p , and A is a N × N real matrix with all its principal submatrices nonsingular. We establish relations with the theory of interpolation and approximation.     

Densely Continuous Forms in Vietoris Hyperspaces

For countably paracompact normal spaces X and locally compact separable metric spaces Y, a characterization is given for the closure of the set of densely continuous forms from X to Y in the hyperspace of nonempty closed subsets of X × Y under the Vietoris topology. This shows that for such X having no isolated points, every closed subset of X × R that is dense over X can be Vietoris approximated by a semicontinuous function on X.     

The connection between self‐associated two‐dimensional vector functionals and third degree forms

We deal with the 2‐orthogonal, 2‐symmetric self‐associated sequence (2‐orthogonal Tchebychev polynomials) and its cubic components. We prove that all the forms (linear functionals) arising are third degree forms. Therefore, an introduction to third degree forms is provided. We look for the connection between these components which are 2‐orthogonal with respect to the functional vector ^t(w₀{^μ},w₁ ^μ) and orthogonal sequences with respect to w₀ ^μ, μ=0,1,2. Associated forms w₀ ^μ)¹) and their inverse w₀ ^μ)^-1 are also studied through the symmetrized w₀}₀ ^μ, μ=0,1,2. Further, we give integral representations for some of these forms. On Euler products associated with noncuspidal metaplectic forms

In this paper, we obtain an Euler product with functional equation associated to a noncuspidal metaplectic form on the double cover of . Zagier's idea of Rankin-Selberg method is used to define the convolution of and the -function.

     

Isotropic Subspaces of Polylinear Forms

The dimensions of maximal isotropic subspaces of symmetric and skew-symmetric forms of degree d in general position are found.     

Gevrey normal forms of vector fields with one zero eigenvalue

We study normal forms of isolated singularities of vector fields in Rn or Cn. When all eigenvalues of the linear part of the vector field are nonzero, one can eliminate all so-called nonresonant terms from the equation provided some spectral condition (like Siegel) is satisfied. In this paper, we discuss the case where there is one zero eigenvalue (in that case Siegel's condition is not satisfied), and show that the formal normalizing transformations are either convergent or divergent of at most Gevrey type. In some cases, we show the summability of the normalizing transformations, which leads to the existence of analytic normal forms in complex sectors around the singularity.

Geometric Approach to Response Theory in Non-Hamiltonian Systems

The theory of differential forms and time-dependent vector fields on manifolds is applied to formulate response theory for non-Hamiltonian systems. This approach is manifestly coordinate-free, and provides a transparent derivation of the response of a thermostatted system to a time-dependent perturbation.     

A cohomological characterization of Leibniz central extensions of Lie algebras

Mainly motivated by Pirashvili's spectral sequences on a Leibniz algebra, a cohomological characterization of Leibniz central extensions of Lie algebras is given. In particular, as applications, we obtain the cohomological version of Gao's main theorem for Kac-Moody algebras and answer a question in an earlier paper by Liu and Hu (2004).

     

On the index of finite determinacy of vector fields with resonances

In this paper we study normal forms for a class of germs of 1-resonant vector fields on R^n with mutually different eigenvalues which may admit extraneous resonance relations. We give an estimation on the index of finite determinacy from above as well as the essentially simplified polynomial normal forms for such vector fields. In the case that a vector field has a zero eigenvalue, the result leads to an interesting corollary, a linear dependence of the derivatives of the hyperbolic variables on the central variable.
