In this paper, we study the existence and asymptotic behavior of radial solutions for a class of nonlinear Schrödinger elliptic equations on infinite domains describing the gyre of geophysical fluid flows. The existence theorem and asymptotic properties of radial positive solutions are established by using a new renormalization technique.  相似文献

We present a short review of the experimental observations and mechanisms related to the generation of quasipatterns and superlattices by the Faraday instability with two-frequency forcing. We show how two-frequency forcing makes possible triad interactions that generate hexagonal patterns, twelvefold quasipatterns or superlattices that consist of two hexagonal patterns rotated by an angle α relative to each other. We then consider which patterns could be observed when α does not belong to the set of prescribed values that give rise to periodic superlattices. Using the Swift–Hohenberg equation as a model, we find that quasipattern solutions exist for nearly all values of α. However, these quasipatterns have not been observed in experiments with the Faraday instability for απ/6. We discuss possible reasons and mention a simpler framework that could give some hint about this problem.  相似文献

Ball convergence results are very important, since they demonstrate the complexity in choosing initial points for iterative methods. One of the most important problems in the study of iterative methods is to determine the convergence ball. This ball is small in general restricting the choice of initial points. We address this problem in the case of Wang’s method utilized to determine a zero of a derivative. Finding such a zero has many applications in computational fields, especially in function optimization. In particular, we find the convergence ball of Wang’s method using hypotheses up to the second derivative in contrast to earlier studies using hypotheses up to the fourth derivative. This way, we also extend the applicability of Wang’s method. Numerical experiments used to test the convergence criteria complete this study.  相似文献

In this paper, the authors consider the asymptotic synchronization of a linear dissipative system with multiple feedback dampings. They ?rst show that under the observability of a scalar equation, Kalman’s rank condition is su?cient for the uniqueness of solution to a complex system of elliptic equations with mixedobservations. The authors then establish a general theory on the asymptotic stability and the asymptotic synchronization for the corresponding evolutional system subjected to mixed dampings of various natures. We develop the asymptotic expansion theory for vector-valued sequences (FN)N1 of random variables in terms of the convergence of the Stein–Malliavin matrix associated with the sequence FN. Our approach combines the classical Fourier approach and the recent Stein–Malliavin theory. We find the second order term of the asymptotic expansion of the density of FN and we illustrate our results by several examples.  相似文献

Discrete fine-scale models, in the form of either particle or lattice models, have been formulated successfully to simulate the behavior of quasi-brittle materials whose mechanical behavior is inherently connected to fracture processes occurring in the internal heterogeneous structure. These models tend to be intensive from the computational point of view as they adopt an “a priori” discretization anchored to the major material heterogeneities (e.g. grains in particulate materials and aggregate pieces in cementitious composites) and this hampers their use in the numerical simulations of large systems. In this work, this problem is addressed by formulating a general multiple scale computational framework based on classical asymptotic analysis and that (1) is applicable to any discrete model with rotational degrees of freedom; and (2) gives rise to an equivalent Cosserat continuum. The developed theory is applied to the upscaling of the Lattice Discrete Particle Model (LDPM), a recently formulated discrete model for concrete and other quasi-brittle materials, and the properties of the homogenized model are analyzed thoroughly in both the elastic and the inelastic regime. The analysis shows that the homogenized micropolar elastic properties are size-dependent, and they are functions of the RVE size and the size of the material heterogeneity. Furthermore, the analysis of the homogenized inelastic behavior highlights issues associated with the homogenization of fine-scale models featuring strain-softening and the related damage localization. Finally, nonlinear simulations of the RVE behavior subject to curvature components causing bending and torsional effects demonstrate, contrarily to typical Cosserat formulations, a significant coupling between the homogenized stress–strain and couple-curvature constitutive equations.  相似文献

In this short paper, we consider the long time behaviors of the fractional Heisenberg equation and the existence of a global weak attractor is proved for the shift dynamics in the path space. The key ingredient is some new type of commutator structure introduced in this paper, which seems indispensable in proving the compactness of the dynamics. The technique introduced in this paper may also be useful to other fractional order partial differential equations.  相似文献
