Let be a C*-algebra with unit 1. For each a ∈ , the C*-algebra numerical range is defined by V(a) = {φ(a): φ ∈ , φ ≥ 0,φ(1) = 1}. In a 2003 paper Li, Rodman and Spitkovsky have found the ω-th roots of elements in C*-algebra under a numerical range condition, when ω ∈ [1,∞). In this paper, we will give a short proof of the above result in the case of ω is a positive integer number. We also give a simple proof for ω-th root of an element a ∈ , when ω ∈ [1,∞) and V(a)∩ {z ∈ ℂ: z ≤ 0} = . We consider nonnegative solutions of a parabolic equation in a cylinder D×(0,T), where D is a noncompact domain of a Riemannian manifold. Under the assumption [IU] (i.e., the associated heat kernel is intrinsically ultracontractive), we establish an integral representation theorem: any nonnegative solution is represented uniquely by an integral on (D×{0})∪(MD×[0,T)), where MD is the Martin boundary of D for the associated elliptic operator. We apply it in a unified way to several concrete examples to explicitly represent nonnegative solutions. We also show that [IU] implies the condition [SP] (i.e., the constant function 1 is a small perturbation of the elliptic operator on D).  相似文献

This paper is concerned with representations of split orthogonal and quasi-split unitary groups over a nonarchimedean local field which are not generic, but which support a unique model of a different kind, the generalized Bessel model. The properties of the Bessel models under induction are studied, and an analogue of Rodier's theorem concerning the induction of Whittaker models is proved for Bessel models which are minimal in a suitable sense. The holomorphicity in the induction parameter of the Bessel functional is established. Local coefficients are defined for each irreducible supercuspidal representation which carries a Bessel functional and also for a certain component of each representation parabolically induced from such a supercuspidal. The local coefficients are related to the Plancherel measures, and their zeroes are shown to be among the poles of the standard intertwining operators.  相似文献

We characterize those positive functions which are invariant for a bounded kernel, and which have a Choquet-type integral representation. Such a representation relies on the wellknown Choquet-type integral representation of measures which are invariant for a kernel. We apply our results to convolution kernels with spread-out measures on second countable locally compact Abelian groups.  相似文献

We study primitive theta functions, which were first introduced by Shintani, in a purely local setting. We investigate a metaplectic representation of U(1) acting on the space of local primitive theta functions and give its explicit irreducible decomposition. We derive a Weierstrass-type formula for conformal Lagrangian immersions in Euclidean 4-space, and show that the data satisfies an equation similar to Dirac equation with complex potential. Alternatively this representation has a simple formulation using quaternions. We apply it to the Hamiltonian stationary case and construct all possible tori, thus obtaining a first approach to a moduli space in terms of a simple algebraic-geometric problem on the plane. Many problems of mechanics and physics are posed in unbounded (or infinite) domains. For solving these problems one typically limits them to bounded domains and finds ways to set appropriate conditions on artificial boundaries or use quasi-uniform grid that maps unbounded domains to bounded ones. Differently from the above methods we approach to problems in unbounded domains by infinite systems of equations. In this paper we develop this approach for an elliptic problem in an infinite semistrip. Using the idea of Polozhii in the method of summary representations we transform the infinite system of three-point vector equations to infinite systems of three-point scalar equations and obtain the approximate solution with a given accuracy. Numerical experiments for several examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

A semigroup S with a sub-band B is called a good B-quasi-Ehresmann semigroup if it is a Bsemiabundant semigroup satisfying the congruence condition such that B((ab)+)abB((ab)*)aB(a*)B(b+)b for all a,b ∈S.We show that every good B-quasi-Ehresmann semigroup has a global representation and a standard representation.As a special case,the structure of good quasi-adequate semigroups is described.  相似文献
