Sampled-data nonlinear observer design for chaos synchronization: A Lyapunov-based approach

This paper considers sampled-data based chaos synchronization using observers in the presence of measurement noise for a large class of chaotic systems. We study discretized model of chaotic systems which are perturbed by white noise and employ Lyapunov-like theorems to come up with a simple yet effective observer design. For the choice of observer gain, a suboptimal criterion is obtained in terms of LMI. We present semiglobal as well as global results. The proposed scheme can also be extended for discrete-time chaotic systems. Numerical simulations have been carried out to verify the effectiveness of theoretical results.     

A variational inequality formulation of equilibrium models for end-of-life products with nonlinear constraints

Variational inequality theory facilitates the formulation of equilibrium problems in economic networks. Examples of successful applications include models of supply chains, financial networks, transportation networks, and electricity networks. Previous economic network equilibrium models that were formulated as variational inequalities only included linear constraints; in this case the equivalence between equilibrium problems and variational inequality problems is achieved with a standard procedure because of the linearity of the constraints. However, in reality, often nonlinear constraints can be observed in the context of economic networks. In this paper, we first highlight with an application from the context of reverse logistics why the introduction of nonlinear constraints is beneficial. We then show mathematical conditions, including a constraint qualification and convexity of the feasible set, which allow us to characterize the economic problem by using a variational inequality formulation. Then, we provide numerical examples that highlight the applicability of the model to real-world problems. The numerical examples provide specific insights related to the role of collection targets in achieving sustainability goals.

Here,Mp(a,b) and T(a,b) are the p-th power and Seiffert means of two positive numbers a and b,respectively.     

An asymmetric Orlicz centroid inequality for probability measures

Using M-addition,an asymmetric Orlicz centroid inequality for absolutely continuous probability measures is established corresponding to Paouris and Pivovarov’s recent result on the symmetric case.As an application,we extend Haberl and Schuster’s asymmetric Lp centroid inequality from star bodies to compact sets.     

Local Regularity for Parabolic Nonlocal Operators

Weak solutions to parabolic integro-differential operators of order α ∈ (α₀, 2) are studied. Local a priori estimates of Hölder norms and a weak Harnack inequality are proved. These results are robust with respect to α↗2. In this sense, the presentation is an extension of Moser's result from [20 Moser , J. ( 1971 ). A Class of Counterexamples to the Fefferman–Phong Inequality for Systems

Abstract

We give here a class of counterexamples to the Fefferman–Phong inequality for systems of pseudodifferential operators, which contains Brummelhuis’ one as a particular case. The main ingredient in the proof is the use of “localized operators” associated with the system, and Hörmander's example of a positive-semidefinite matrix whose Weyl quantization is not nonnegative. For the considered class, in the “isotropic” case, the Sharp Gårding inequality cannot be improved.     

Multivariate irregular sampling theorem

In this paper,we prove a Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type inequality for multivariate entire functions of exponential type with non-equidistant spaced sampling points. And from this result,we establish a multivariate irregular Whittaker-Kotelnikov-Shannon type sampling theorem.
