Starting with a general formula, precise but difficult to use, for the adjoint of a composition operator on a functional Hilbert space, we compute an explicit formula on the classical Hardy Hilbert space for the adjoint of a composition operator with rational symbol. To provide a foundation for this formula, we study an extension to the definitions of composition, weighted composition, and Toeplitz operators to include symbols that are multiple-valued functions. These definitions can be made on any Banach space of analytic functions on a plane domain, but in this work, our attention is focused on the basic properties needed for the application to operators on the standard Hardy and Bergman Hilbert spaces on the unit disk. 相似文献

A general theorem on conservation laws for arbitrary differential equations is proved. The theorem is valid also for any system of differential equations where the number of equations is equal to the number of dependent variables. The new theorem does not require existence of a Lagrangian and is based on a concept of an adjoint equation for non-linear equations suggested recently by the author. It is proved that the adjoint equation inherits all symmetries of the original equation. Accordingly, one can associate a conservation law with any group of Lie, Lie-Bäcklund or non-local symmetries and find conservation laws for differential equations without classical Lagrangians. 相似文献

Multicriterion design is gaining importance in aeronautics in order to cope with new needs of society. In the literature,
contributions to single discipline and/or single-point design optimization abound. The goal of this paper is to introduce
a new approach combining the adjoint method with a formulation derived from game theory for multipoint aerodynamic design
problems. Transonic flows around lifting airfoils are analyzed via Euler computations. Airfoil shapes are optimized according
to various aerodynamic criteria. The notion of player is introduced. In a competitive Nash game, each player attempts to optimize
its own criterion through a symmetric exchange of information with others. A Nash equilibrium is reached when each player,
constrained by the strategy of the others, cannot improve further its own criterion. Specific real and virtual symmetric Nash
games are implemented to set up an optimization strategy for design under conflict.

Indirect optical spectroscopy or tomography, that is, mapping of optical properties in scattering and absorption inside a medium given a set of measurements at the boundaries, is highly dependent on the radiative transfer model used to track radiative energy propagation in semi-transparent materials. In the first part of this study, a numerical tool adapted for treating radiative transfer in the frame of short-pulsed laser beam interaction with non-homogeneous matter has been presented. In this paper, it is intended to show how such numerical tools can undergo inversion through adjoint treatment or reverse differentiation.Adjoint models, as well as reverse differentiation, are used in order to allow an efficient computation of the gradient, in the unknown optical parameters space, of an objective or cost function estimating the residual between data obtained at the boundary and predictions by numerical simulations. This gradient is a crucial indication as to update, through line minimization, the set of internal optical properties of the medium.First, the theoretical background of the inverse treatments, both reverse differentiation and adjoint model, for the transient radiative transfer equation model introduced in Part I is developed. Second, different reconstruction configurations are presented. Time-dependent sampling and time filtering effects of the measurements are addressed. The main goal of this paper is to give a rigorous derivation of the generalized form of the direct (also referenced as forward) and adjoint radiative transfer equations. The obtained expressions coincide with expressions derived by Ustinov [Adjoint sensitivity analysis of radiative transfer equation: temperature and gas mixing ratio weighting functions for remote sensing of scattering atmospheres in thermal IR. It is known that the classification of third-order evolutionary equations with the constant separant possessing a nontrivial Lie–Bäcklund algebra (in other words, integrable equations) results in the linear equation, the KdV equation and the Krichever–Novikov equation. The first two of these equations are nonlinearly self-adjoint. This property allows to associate conservation laws of the equations in question with their symmetries. The problem on nonlinear self-adjointness of the Krichever–Novikov equation has not been solved yet. In the present paper we solve this problem and find the explicit form of the differential substitution providing the nonlinear self-adjointness. 相似文献
