On sofic actions and equivalence relations

The notion of sofic equivalence relation was introduced by Gabor Elek and Gabor Lippner. Their technics employ some graph theory. Here we define this notion in a more operator algebraic context, starting from Connes? Embedding Problem, and prove the equivalence of these two definitions. We introduce a notion of sofic action for an arbitrary group and prove that an amalgamated product of sofic actions over amenable groups is again sofic. We also prove that an amalgamated product of sofic groups over an amenable subgroup is again sofic.     

弱s-拟正规子群对有限群的p-幂零性的影响

群G的子群H称为G的弱s-拟正规子群,若G有次正规子群T,使得G=HT且H ∩T≤HsG,其中HsG是包含在H中的G的最大的s-拟正规子群.本文利用Sylow p-子群的极大子群的弱s-拟正规性得到有限群为p-幂零群的一些充分条件,并给出Schur-Zassenhaus定理的一种推广.     

Quasi-isometric rigidity of nonuniform lattices in higher rank symmetric spaces

We compute the quasi-isometry group of an irreducible nonuniform lattice in a semisimple Lie group with finite center and no rank one factors, and show that any two such lattices are quasi-isometric if and only if they are commensurable up to conjugation.

     

Total synthesis of (−)-elegansidiol by using an abnormal Beckmann fragmentation of Hajos ketone oxime as a key step

Abnormal Beckmann fragmentation of Hajos ketone oxime regioselectively forms of a chiral 1-oxygenated 2,2-dimethyl-4-methylene-cyclohexan skeleton. Using this transformation as a key step, the total synthesis of (−)-elegansidiol, an oxygenated mono-carbocyclic sesquiterpenoid, was achieved.

Parabolic conjugacy in general linear groups

Let q be a power of a prime and n a positive integer. Let P(q) be a parabolic subgroup of the finite general linear group GL _n (q). We show that the number of P(q)-conjugacy classes in GL _n (q) is, as a function of q, a polynomial in q with integer coefficients. This answers a question of Alperin in (Commun. Algebra 34(3): 889–891, 2006)     

P2-阶子群X-ss-半置换的有限群

设G是有限群,X是G的一个非空子集,子群H称为在G中X-ss-半置换,若H在G中有补充子群T,对于T的任意Sylowp-子群P,只要(p,|H|)=1,就存在x∈X使得HP^x=P^xH。通过对p²-阶子群的X-ss-半置换性研究,得到了p-幂零群的新判断。     

On the normality of the rings of Schubert varieties

We prove that the cone over a Schubert variety inG/P (P being a maximal parabolic subgroup of classical type) is normal by exhibiting a 2-regular sequence inR(w) (the homogeneous coordinate ring of the Schubert varietyX(w) inG/P under the canonical protective embeddingG/P ⊂→ (p (H° G/P,L)),L being the ample generator of (PicG/P), which vanishes on the singular locus ofX(w). We also prove the surjectivity ofH° (G/Q, L) H° (X(w), L), whereQ is a classical parabolic subgroup (not necessarily maximal) ofG andL is an ample line bundle onG/Q.
