In this paper it is shown how the algebraic product of two spline functions, each represented in terms of B-splines, can again be represented as a linear combination of suitable B-splines. As a corollary to this result we obtain an explicit representation of a given B-spline function in terms of B-splines of some arbitrary higher degree. This generalizes some known results for raising the degree by one. Recurrence relations for both products and degree raising are established that may be useful for computation.Communicated by Larry L. Schumaker.  相似文献

Summary This paper is a continuation of our previous work [10] on projection methods. We study first existing higher order projection schemes in the semidiscretized form for the Navier-Stokes equations. One error analysis suggests that the precision of these schemes is most likely plagued by the inconsistent Neumann boundary condition satisfied by the pressure approximations. We then propose a penalty-projection scheme for which we obtain improved error estimates.This work is partially supported by NSF grant MS-8802596.  相似文献

Summary We show for an i.i.d. sample that bootstrap estimates consistently the distribution of a linear statistic if and only if the normal approximation with estimated variance works. An asymptotic approach is used where everything may depend onn. The result is extended to the case of independent, but not necessarily identically distributed random variables. In this paper we considered curvature conditions on a Kähler-Einstein surface of general type. In particular we showed that it has negative holomorphic sectional curvature if theL 2-norm of (3C 2 ?C 1 2 )/C 1 2 is sufficiently small, whereC 1 andC 2 are the first and second Chern classes of the surfaces. This generalizes a result of Yau on the uniformization of Kähler-Einstein surfaces of general type and with 3C 2 ?C 1 2 = 0. Also in the process, we obtain a necessary condition in terms of an inequality between Chern numbers for a Kähler-Einstein metric to have negative holomorphic sectional curvature.  相似文献

Reactions between cerium trichloride and oxide ions were studied in NaCl+KCl (1/1) at 1000°K, by potentiometry with a calcia-stabilized zirconia membrane electrode. Titration curves clearly demonstrated the existence of soluble cerium oxychloride (CeO+) and precipitated cerium oxide (Ce2O3), with respective dissociation constants 10?11 and 10?30 (molality scale). The corresponding conditional solubility diagram {log S (CeIII)=f(pO2?)} is presented and discussed.  相似文献

Enzymes that degrade pectin are called pectinases. Pectinases of microbial origin are used in juice clarification as the process is cost-effective. This study screened a pectinase-producing bacterium isolated from soil and identified as Bacillus subtilis 15A B-92 based on the 16S rRNA molecular technique. The purified pectinase from the isolate showed 99.6 U/mg specific activity and 11.6-fold purity. The molecular weight of the purified bacterial pectinase was 14.41 ± 1 kD. Optimum pectinase activity was found at pH 4.5 and 50 °C, and the enzyme was 100% stable for 3.5 h in these conditions. No enzymatic inhibition or activation effect was seen with Fe2+, Ca2+, or Mg2+. However, a slight inhibition was seen with Cu2+, Mn2+, and Zn2+. Tween 20 and 80 slightly inhibited the pectinase, whereas iodoacetic acid (IAA), ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA), urea, and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) showed potent inhibition. The bacterial pectinase degraded citrus pectin (100%); however, it was inactive in the presence of galactose. With citrus pectin as the substrate, the Km and Vmax were calculated as 1.72 mg/mL and 1609 U/g, respectively. The high affinity of pectinase for its substrate makes the process cost-effective when utilized in food industries. The obtained pectinase was able to clarify orange and apple juices, justifying its application in the food industry.  相似文献
