A non-trivial Fréchet quotient of the space of real analytic functions

We prove that the space of real analytic functions ${\cal A}(\Omega)$ on an arbitrary open set $\Omega \subseteq \mathbb{R}^d$ has a Fréchet infinite dimensional quotient space with a continuous norm. Received: 4 February 2002     

Approximation of regularized evolution operators

On a generalised<Emphasis Type="Italic">ε</Emphasis>-control problem in Banach space

In this paper a linearε-control problem for a general objective function is considered by functional analytic approach. Existence and uniqueness of solutions are shown. The characterization of the solution is given in terms of a hyperplane.     

Poisson integrals and Riesz transforms for Hermite function expansions with weights

We consider expansions with respect to the multi-dimensional Hermite functions which are eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscillator L=−Δ+|x|². For the heat-diffusion and Poisson semigroups corresponding to a self-adjoint extension of L we investigate their boundary behaviour and mapping properties. All this is done for functions from L^p(w), 1?p<∞, w∈A_p. Then Riesz transforms and conjugate Poisson integrals are considered. The Riesz transforms occur to be Calderón-Zygmund operators hence their mapping properties follow by using results from a general theory.     

Stability and linear oscillations of liquid bridges with varied boundary conditions under zero gravity

This article deals with stability and small linear oscillations of liquid bridges between fixed solid surfaces (parallel plates, spheres, ...) under zero gravity. A general investigation method for any kind of axisymmetric liquid bridge is exposed but the author focus his work on the spherical liquid bridge cases. In particular, he exposes a full theoretical study of spherical liquid bridges between two spheres, plates and cones.     

Shapley value for constant-sum games

It is proved that Youngs [4] axiomatization for the Shapley value by marginalism, efficiency, and symmetry is still valid for the Shapley value defined on the class of nonnegative constant-sum games with nonzero worth of grand coalition and on the entire class of constant-sum games as well.The research was supported by NWO (The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) grant NL-RF 047-008-010.I am thankful to Theo Driessen, Natalia Naumova and Elena Yanovskaya for interesting discussions and comments. Computational complexity of stable partitions with B-preferences

Consider a special stable partition problem in which the player's preferences over sets to which she could belong are identical with her preferences over the most attractive member of a set and in case of indifference the set of smaller cardinality is preferred. If the preferences of all players over other (individual) players are strict, a strongly stable and a stable partition always exists. However, if ties are present, we show that both the existence problems are NP-complete. These results are very similar to what is known for the stable roommates problem. An elementary construction of tilting complexes

Let A be an artin algebra and e∈A an idempotent with add(eA_A)=add(D(_AAe)). Then a projective resolution of Ae_eAe gives rise to tilting complexes for A, where P(l)^• is of term length l+1. In particular, if A is self-injective, then is self-injective and has the same Nakayama permutation as A. In case A is a finite dimensional algebra over a field and eAe is a Nakayama algebra, a projective resolution of eAe over the enveloping algebra of eAe gives rise to two-sided tilting complexes {T(2l)^•}_l?1 for A, where T(2l)^• is of term length 2l+1. In particular, if eAe is of Loewy length two, then we get tilting complexes {T(l)^•}_l?1 for A, where T(l)^• is of term length l+1.     

Computation of blowing up centers

Given a birational projective morphism of quasi-projective varieties . We want to find the ideal sheaf over X such that the blowing up of X along corresponds to f. In this paper we approach the problem from two directions, solving two subcases. First we present a method that determines when f is the composition of blowing ups along known centers, then by another method, we compute directly from .     

On primitive ideals

We extend two well-known results on primitive ideals in enveloping algebras of semisimple Lie algebras, the Irreducibility theorem for associated varieties and Duflo theorem on primitive ideals, to much wider classes of algebras. Our general version of the Irreducibility Theorem says that if A is a positively filtered associative algebra such that gr A is a commutative Poisson algebra with finitely many symplectic leaves, then the associated variety of any primitive ideal in A is the closure of a single connected symplectic leaf. Our general version of the Duflo theorem says that if A is an algebra with a triangular structure, see § 2, then any primitive ideal in A is the annihilator of a simple highest weight module. Applications to symplectic reflection algebras and Cherednik algebras are discussed.
