Differential operators on Hilbert modular forms

We investigate differential operators and their compatibility with subgroups of SL₂n(R). In particular, we construct Rankin-Cohen brackets for Hilbert modular forms, and more generally, multilinear differential operators on the space of Hilbert modular forms. As an application, we explicitly determine the Rankin-Cohen bracket of a Hilbert-Eisenstein series and an arbitrary Hilbert modular form. We use this result to compute the Petersson inner product of such a bracket and a Hilbert modular cusp form.     

A model for the interaction of near-infrared laser pulses with metal powders in selective laser sintering

A thermal model of the interaction of pulsed near-infrared laser radiation from a Nd:YAG laser was made, taking the measured powder properties such as reflectance, optical penetration depth and thermal conductivity into account. It allows an estimation of the evolution of two different temperatures: the average temperature of the powder (taken over the grains in a volume given by the laser beam diameter and the optical penetration depth) and the temperature distinction within a single grain. It showed that in pulsed mode consolidation can be achieved at much lower average power as the surface of the powder particles are molten but their cores remain at nearly room temperature. This leads to a much lower average temperature and therefore a dramatic decrease in residual thermal stresses in the finished piece. The results of the model were experimentally tested and confirmed. Kreĭn–Saakyan and Trace Formulas for a Pair of Canonical Differential Operators

An analog of the Kreĭn–Saakyan formula is derived for any pair of relatively prime self-adjoint extensions of a minimal symmetric canonical differential operator. Explicit bounds on some new nonlinear integral inequalities with delay

The purpose of the present note is to establish some new delay integral inequalities, which provide explicit bounds on unknown functions and generalize some results of Li et al. [Some new delay integral inequalities and their applications, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 180 (2005) 191–200]. The inequalities given here can be used to investigate the qualitative properties of certain delay differential equations and delay integral equations.     

Grothendieck groups of unbounded complexes of finitely generated modules

Let Λ be a left Artinian ring, D⁺(mod Λ) (resp., D⁻(mod Λ), D(mod Λ)) the derived category of bounded below complexes (resp., bounded above complexes, unbounded complexes) of finitely generated left Λ-modules. We show that the Grothendieck groups K₀(D⁺(mod Λ)), K₀(D⁻(mod Λ)) and K₀(D(mod Λ)) are trivial. Received: 7 April 2005     

A Fubini theorem

Let I₀ be the σ-ideal of subsets of a Polish group generated by Borel sets which have perfectly many pairwise disjoint translates. We prove that a Fubini-type theorem holds between I₀ and the σ-ideals of Haar measure zero sets and of meager sets. We use this result to give a simple proof of a generalization of a theorem of Balcerzak-Ros?anowski-Shelah stating that I₀ on N² strongly violates the countable chain condition.     

The Riesz decomposition of finely superharmonic functions

This paper answers a question of Fuglede about minimal positive harmonic functions associated with irregular boundary points. As a consequence, an old and central problem of fine potential theory, concerning the Riesz decomposition, is resolved. Namely, it is shown that, on certain fine domains, there exist positive finely superharmonic functions which do not admit any positive finely harmonic minorant and yet are not fine potentials.     

Invariant measures and regularity properties of perturbed Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups

This paper deals with perturbations of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operator on L²-spaces with respect to a Gaussian measure μ. We perturb the generator of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroup by a certain unbounded, non-linear drift, and show various properties of the perturbed semigroup such as compactness and positivity. Strong Feller property, existence and uniqueness of an invariant measure are discussed as well.     

Regular variation of order 1 nonlinear AR-ARCH models

We prove both geometric ergodicity and regular variation of the stationary distribution for a class of nonlinear stochastic recursions that includes nonlinear AR-ARCH models of order 1. The Lyapounov exponent for the model, the index of regular variation and the spectral measure for the regular variation all are characterized by a simple two-state Markov chain.     

A large deviation principle for 2D stochastic Navier–Stokes equation

In this paper one specifies the ergodic behavior of the 2D-stochastic Navier–Stokes equation by giving a Large Deviation Principle for the occupation measure for large time. It describes the exact rate of exponential convergence. The considered random force is non-degenerate and compatible with the strong Feller property.
