The dating of Ptolemy's Almagest based on the coverings of the stars and on lunar eclipses

This paper is a natural extension and continuation of the authors' studies of the astronomical dating problem of Ptolemy's famous Almagest. In previous papers, the authors suggested and developed a new geometrical-statistical method for dating ancient star catalogues. This method was then applied to Ptolemy's Almagest. The results obtained do not confirm the traditional dating of the Almagest (2nd century AD or 2nd century BC) but shift it to the epoch AD 600–1300. In this paper, we extend our analysis to other parts of the Almagest and study the dating problem for series of lunar eclipses described in the Almagest and for the covering of stars by planets. The results obtained completely agree with our previous results and give the same time interval, AD 600–1300.     

A remark on compact matrix quantum groups

Linear operators in Clifford algebras

We consider the real vector space structure of the algebra of linear endomorphisms of a finite-dimensional real Clifford algebra (2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8). A basis of that space is constructed in terms of the operators M _{eI, eJ} defined by xe _I · x · e _J , where the e _I are the generators of the Clifford algebra and I is a multi-index (3, 7).In particular, it is shown that the family (M _{eI, eJ} ) is exactly a basis in the even case.     

On coherent states for the simplest quantum groups

The coherent states for the simplest quantum groups (q-Heisenberg-Weyl, SU _q (2) and the discrete series of representations of SU _q (1, 1)) are introduced and their properties investigated. The corresponding analytic representations, path integrals, and q-deformation of Berezin's quantization on , a sphere, and the Lobatchevsky plane are discussed.     

Fluctuation-dominated kinetics in the a+b→0 reaction between immobile particles

We consider the accumulation of immobile particles landing on a one-dimensional lattice and annihilating via the A + B 0 bimolecular reaction. Here we focus on short-range interactions with cutoff. We investigate through computer simulations both the kinetics of the particles' accumulation and also their spatial distribution. The relation between the exponents describing the growth of the particles' concentration and the correlation length of their distribution shows that the kinetics of accumulation is fluctuation-dominated.This work is dedicated to Prof. George H. STABILITIES OF （A,B,C）AND NPDIRK METHODS FOR SYSTEMS OF NEUTRAL DELAY—DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH MULTIPLE DELAYS

Consider the following neutral delay-differential equations with multiple delays (NMDDE)$$y'(t)=Ly(t)+\sum_{j=1}^{m}[M_jy(t-\tau_j)+N_jy'(t-\tau_j)],\ \ t\geq 0, (0.1)$$ where $\tau>0$, $L, M_j$ and $N_j$ are constant complex- value $d×d$ matrices. A sufficient condition for the asymptotic stability of NMDDE system (0.1) is given. The stability of Butcher's (A,B,C)-method for systems of NMDDE is studied. In addition, we present a parallel diagonally-implicit iteration RK (PDIRK) methods (NPDIRK) for systems of NMDDE, which is easier to be implemented than fully implicit RK methos. We also investigate the stability of a special class of NPDIRK methods by analyzing their stability behaviors of the solutions of (0.1).
