The asymptotic Plateau problem in Gromov hyperbolic manifolds

We solve the asymptotic Plateau problem in every Gromov hyperbolic Hadamard manifold (X,g) with bounded geometry. That is, we prove existence of complete (possibly singular) k-dimensional area minimizing surfaces in X with prescribed boundary data at infinity, for a large class of admissible limit sets and for all . Harmonicity and gauge transformations in dimension 3

Let (M, ) be a contact manifold. Consider a particular class of gauge transformations for the contact form . In this note we study the harmonicity of the identity map of the manifold M, of dimension three, endowed with the Webster metric g and with another metric $\widetilde{g}$ obtained from g after a gauge transformation.     

On the Metrical Theory of Continued Fraction Mixing Fibred Systems and Its Application to Jacobi-Perron Algorithm

 We study the metrical theory of fibred systems, in particular, in the case of continued fraction mixing systems. We get the limit distribution of the largest value of a continued fraction mixing stationary stochastic process with infinite expectation and some related results. These are analogous to J. Galambos, W. Philipp, and H. G. Diamond–J. D. Vaaler theorems for the regular continued fractions. As an application, we see that these theorems hold for Jacobi-Perron algorithm. The effect of concentrating potentials in some singularly perturbed problems

The equation with boundary Dirichlet zero data is considered in a bounded domain . Under the assumption that concentrates, as , round a manifold and that f is a superlinear function, satisfying suitable growth assumptions, the existence of multiple distinct positive solutions is proved. On a generalised<Emphasis Type="Italic">ε</Emphasis>-control problem in Banach space

In this paper a linearε-control problem for a general objective function is considered by functional analytic approach. Existence and uniqueness of solutions are shown. The characterization of the solution is given in terms of a hyperplane.     

Existence of Optimal Controls for Semilinear Parabolic Equations without Cesari-Type Conditions

   Abstract. Optimal control problems governed by semilinear parabolic partial differential equations are considered. No Cesari-type conditions are assumed. By proving the existence theorem and the Pontryagin maximum principle of optimal ``state-control" pairs for the corresponding relaxed problems, an existence theorem of optimal pairs for the original problem is established.     

From a Nonlinear, Nonconvex Variational Problem to a Linear, Convex Formulation

   Abstract. We propose a general approach to deal with nonlinear, nonconvex variational problems based on a reformulation of the problem resulting in an optimization problem with linear cost functional and convex constraints. As a first step we explicitly explore these ideas to some one-dimensional variational problems and obtain specific conclusions of an analytical and numerical nature.     

Linear optical properties of frequency doubling polymers

Measurements of linear optical properties of methylmethacrylate copolymers with non-linear optical 4-alkoxy-4-alkylsulfone stilbene side-chains are presented. From there two methods for phase matching are discussed; one aiming to equalize the refractive indices of the fundamental and the second harmnic wave, the other to suppress the destructive character of the interference. The matter of photo stability of frequency doubling polymers is also discussed.
