Inégalités de Gagliardo-Nirenberg pour les semi-groupes d'opérateurs et applications

One shows the equivalence between an abstract form of a Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality and an estimate of the decay of the L ¹–L norm of a semigroup of operators. This equivalence, contrary to the one with the classical Sobolev inequalities, allows the treatment of situations where the decay is exponential. Related results and applications are given.

The boundary blow-up rate of large solutions

In this paper we ascertain the blow-up rate of the large solutions of a class of sublinear elliptic boundary value problems with a weight function in front of the nonlinearity that vanishes on the boundary of the underlying domain, Ω, at different rates according to the point of the boundary, . All previous results in the literature assumed the decay rate of the underlying weight function to be the same at any point of ∂Ω. This hypothesis substantially simplified the mathematical analysis of the problem, as it allowed constructing global sub and supersolutions in an open neighborhood of ∂Ω. Obtaining general results requires localizing at each particular point of the boundary, making particularly involved the mathematical analysis of the problem.     

On the ?ojasiewicz-Simon gradient inequality

We prove a general version of the ?ojasiewicz-Simon inequality, and we show how to apply the abstract result to study energy functionals E of the form

     

Quasi-Free Resolutions Of Hilbert Modules

The notion of a quasi-free Hilbert module over a function algebra $\mathcal{A}$ consisting of holomorphic functions on a bounded domain $\Omega$ in complex m space is introduced. It is shown that quasi-free Hilbert modules correspond to the completion of the direct sum of a certain number of copies of the algebra $\mathcal{A}$. A Hilbert module is said to be weakly regular (respectively, regular) if there exists a module map from a quasi-free module with dense range (respectively, onto). A Hilbert module $\mathcal{M}$ is said to be compactly supported if there exists a constant $\beta$ satisfying $\|\varphi f\| \leq \beta \ |\varphi \| \textsl{X} \|f \|$ for some compact subset X of $\Omega$ and $\varphi$ in $\mathcal{A}$, f in $\mathcal{M}$. It is shown that if a Hilbert module is compactly supported then it is weakly regular. The paper identifies several other classes of Hilbert modules which are weakly regular. In addition, this result is extended to yield topologically exact resolutions of such modules by quasi-free ones.     

Combings of groups and the grammar of reparameterization

A new construction of combings is used to distinguish between several previously indistinguishable classes of groups associated to the theory of automatic groups and non-positive curvature in group theory. We construct synchronously bounded combings for a class of groups that are neither bicombable nor automatic. The linguistic complexity of these combings is analysed: in many cases the language of words in the combing is an indexed language.     

The effect of concentrating potentials in some singularly perturbed problems

The equation with boundary Dirichlet zero data is considered in a bounded domain . Under the assumption that concentrates, as , round a manifold and that f is a superlinear function, satisfying suitable growth assumptions, the existence of multiple distinct positive solutions is proved. On the symplectic structures on moduli space of stable sheaves over a K3 or abelian surface and on Hilbert scheme of points

Fix a smooth very ample curve C on a K3 or abelian surface X. Let $ \mathcal{M} $ denote the moduli space of pairs of the form (F, s), where F is a stable sheaf over X whose Hilbert polynomial coincides with that of the direct image, by the inclusion map of C in X, of a line bundle of degree d over C, and s is a nonzero section of F. Assume d to be sufficiently large such that F has a nonzero section. The pullback of the Mukai symplectic form on moduli spaces of stable sheaves over X is a holomorphic 2-form on $ \mathcal{M} $. On the other hand, $ \mathcal{M} $ has a map to a Hilbert scheme parametrizing 0-dimensional subschemes of X that sends (F, s) to the divisor, defined by s, on the curve defined by the support of F. We prove that the above 2-form on $ \mathcal{M} $ coincides with the pullback of the symplectic form on the Hilbert scheme.     

On coherent states for the simplest quantum groups

The coherent states for the simplest quantum groups (q-Heisenberg-Weyl, SU _q (2) and the discrete series of representations of SU _q (1, 1)) are introduced and their properties investigated. The corresponding analytic representations, path integrals, and q-deformation of Berezin's quantization on , a sphere, and the Lobatchevsky plane are discussed.
