UCT-Kirchberg algebras have nuclear dimension one

We prove that every Kirchberg algebra in the UCT class has nuclear dimension 1. We first show that Kirchberg 2-graph algebras with trivial _K0$K_0$ and finite _K1$K_1$ have nuclear dimension 1 by adapting a technique developed by Winter and Zacharias for Cuntz algebras. We then prove that every Kirchberg algebra in the UCT class is a direct limit of 2-graph algebras to obtain our main theorem.     

Exact constants in Poincaré type inequalities for functions with zero mean boundary traces

In this paper, we investigate Poincaré type inequalities for the functions having zero mean value on the whole boundary of a Lipschitz domain or on a measurable part of the boundary. We find exact and easily computable constants in these inequalities for some basic domains (rectangles, cubes, and right triangles) and discuss applications of the inequalities to quantitative analysis of partial differential equations. A duality principle in weighted Sobolev spaces on the real line

An embedding inequality of Sobolev type is characterized in the paper with help of a duality principle and boundedness criteria for the Hardy–Steklov integral operator in weighted Lebesgue spaces.

A note about Volterra operators on weighted Banach spaces of entire functions

We characterize boundedness, compactness and weak compactness of Volterra operators acting between different weighted Banach spaces of entire functions with sup‐norms in terms of the symbol g; thus we complement recent work by Bassallote, Contreras, Hernández‐Mancera, Martín and Paul 3 for spaces of holomorphic functions on the disc and by Constantin and Peláez 16 for reflexive weighted Fock spaces.     

A strict topology on Orlicz spaces

Let φ be a Young function, Ω be a locally compact space, and μ be a positive Radon measure on Ω. We consider a strict topology (in the sense of Sentilles‐Taylor) on the Orlicz function space and investigate various properties of this locally convex topology. We also study the Orlicz space of a locally compact group G with a left Haar measure under the strict topology and certain other natural locally convex topologies. Finally we present some results on various continuity properties of convolution operators on under the topology and other natural ones.     

Desch‐Schappacher perturbation of one‐parameter semigroups on locally convex spaces

We prove a Desch‐Schappacher type perturbation theorem for strongly continuous and locally equicontinuous one‐parameter semigroups which are defined on a sequentially complete locally convex space.     

New geometric properties of Banach spaces

In this paper, we introduce new geometric properties as generalizations of p‐uniform smoothness and q‐uniform convexity of Banach spaces. Furthermore, using generalized Beckner's inequality, we characterize the properties in terms of norm inequalities. As an application, we consider the duality relation.     

Symmetrisers and generalised solutions for strictly hyperbolic systems with singular coefficients

This paper is devoted to strictly hyperbolic systems and equations with non‐smooth coefficients. Below a certain level of smoothness, distributional solutions may fail to exist. We construct generalised solutions in the Colombeau algebra of generalised functions. Extending earlier results on symmetric hyperbolic systems, we introduce generalised strict hyperbolicity, construct symmetrisers, prove an appropriate Gårding inequality and establish existence, uniqueness and regularity of generalised solutions. Under additional regularity assumptions on the coefficients, when a classical solution of the Cauchy problem (or of a transmission problem in the piecewise regular case) exists, the generalised solution is shown to be associated with the classical solution (or the piecewise classical solution satisfying the appropriate transmission conditions).     

States on systems of sets that are closed under symmetric difference

We consider extensions of certain states. The states are defined on the systems of sets that are closed under the formation of the symmetric difference (concrete quantum logics). These systems can be viewed as certain set‐representable quantum logics enriched with the symmetric difference. We first show how the compactness argument allows us to extend states on Boolean algebras over such systems of sets. We then observe that the extensions are sometimes possible even for non‐Boolean situations. On the other hand, a difference‐closed system can be constructed such that even two‐valued states do not allow for extensions. Finally, we consider these questions in a σ‐complete setup and find a large class of such systems with rather interesting state properties.
