Reduction principles in the theory of selections

In the present article many theorems about existence of continuous selections for a set-valued mapping into the metrizable spaces are extended to mappings into non-metrizable spaces.     

Rigidity in motivic homotopy theory

We show that extensions of algebraically closed fields induce full and faithful functors between the respective motivic stable homotopy categories with finite coefficients.     

Global Hochschild (co-)homology of singular spaces

We introduce Hochschild (co-)homology of morphisms of schemes or analytic spaces and study its fundamental properties. In analogy with the cotangent complex we introduce the so-called (derived) Hochschild complex of a morphism; the Hochschild cohomology and homology groups are then the Ext and Tor groups of that complex. We prove that these objects are well defined, extend the known cases, and have the expected functorial and homological properties such as graded commutativity of Hochschild cohomology and existence of the characteristic homomorphism from Hochschild cohomology to the (graded) centre of the derived category.     

A remark on rank varieties for a class of local algebras

We answer a question raised in [9] by showing the equality of two different definitions of rank variety for finitely generated modules over truncated polynomial algebras. We do this by establishing an isomorphism of algebras used in the two definitions of rank variety. Received: 23 April 2007     

An inhomogeneous wave equation and non-linear Diophantine approximation

A non-linear Diophantine condition involving perfect squares and arising from an inhomogeneous wave equation on the torus guarantees the existence of a smooth solution. The exceptional set associated with the failure of the Diophantine condition and hence of the existence of a smooth solution is studied. Both the Lebesgue and Hausdorff measures of this set are obtained.     

On quasi-consistent integration by Nordsieck methods

In this paper we study advantages of numerical integration by quasi-consistent Nordsieck formulas. All quasi-consistent numerical methods possess at least one important property for practical use, which has not attracted attention yet, i.e. the global error of a quasi-consistent method has the same order as its local error. This means that the usual local error control will produce a numerical solution for the prescribed accuracy requirement if the principal term of the local error dominates strongly over remaining terms. In other words, the global error control can be as cheap as the local error control in the methods under discussion.     

Normality of orbit closures for Dynkin quivers¶of type ?n

It is known that the orbit closures for the representations of the equioriented Dynkin quivers ? _n are normal and Cohen–Macaulay varieties with rational singularities. Rapid time-decay and net force to the obstacles by the Stokes flow in exterior domains

Consider the nonstationary Stokes equations in exterior domains with the compact boundary . We show first that the solution decays like for all as .
