Summary We continue our study ofd-dimensional Brownian motion in a soft repulsive Poissonian potential over a long time interval [0,t]. We prove here a pinning effect: for typical configuratons, with probability tending to 1 ast tends to , the particle gets trapped close to locations of near minima of certain variational problems. These locations lie at distances growing almost linearly witht from the origin, and the particle gets pinned within distance smaller than any positive power oft of one such location. In dimension 1, we can push further our estimates and show that in a suitable sense, the particle gets trapped with high probability, within time t and within distance (logt)2+ from a suitable location at distance of ordert/(logt)3 from the origin.This article was processed by the author using the LATEX style filepljour1m from Springer-Verlag  相似文献

Stationary processes of k-flats in d can be thought of as point processes on the Grassmannian k d of k-dimensional subspaces of d . If such a process is sampled by a (dk+ j)-dimensional space F, it induces a process of j-flats in F. In this work we will investigate the possibility of determining the original k-process from knowledge of the intensity measures of the induced j-processes. We will see that this is impossible precisely when 1<k<d–1 and j=0,...,2[r/2]–1, where r is the rank of the manifold k d . We will show how the problem is equivalent to the study of the kernel of various integral transforms, these will then be investigated using harmonic analysis on Grassmannian manifolds.The research of the first and third authors was supported in part by NSF grants DMS-9207019 and DMS-9304284. Let X be a smooth projective surface over a number field k. Let (CH0(X)) denote the Chow group of zero-cyles modulo rational equivalence on X. Let CH0(X) be the subgroup of CH 0(X) consisting of classes which vanish when going over to an arbitrary completion of k. Bloch put forward a conjecture asserting that this group is isomorphic to the Tate-Shafarevich group of a certain Galois module atttached to X. In this paper, we disprove this general conjecture. We produce a conic bundle X over an elliptic curve, for which the group (CH0(X) is not zero, but the Galois-theoretic Tate-Shafarevich group vanishes.  相似文献

G. Grätzer, H. Lakser, and E. T. Schmidt proved that every distributive lattice with n join-irreducible elements can be represented as the congruence lattice of a small lattice L, that is, a lattice L with O(n 2 ) elements. G. Grätzer, I. Rival, and N. Zaguia proved that, for any <2, O(n 2 ) can not be improved to O(n ). The property of self-adjointness of the operatorQ =a + +a - in three types ofq-oscillator algebras is considered. Spectral measures and generalized eigenfunctions ofQ are found in the cases when this operator is bounded. Generalized eigenvectors are expressed in terms ofq-Hermite polynomials. If the operatorQ is unbounded, then its closure is not self-adjoint. However, in this case, admits self-adjoint extensions. Deficiency subspaces are one-dimensional. The theory of directed complexes is a higher-dimensional generalisation of the theory of directed graphs. In a directed graph, the simple directed paths form a subset of the free category which they generate; if the graph has no directed cycles, then the simple directed paths constitute the entire category. Generalising this, in a directed complex there is a class of split subsets which is contained in and generates a free -category; when a simple loop-freeness condition is satisfied, the split sets constitute the entire -category. The class of directed complexes is closed under the natural product and join constructions. The free -categories generated by directed complexes include the important examples associated to cubes and simplexes.  相似文献

The stability and convergence of the solutions of perturbed and regularized variational inequality to the solutions of the primary (unstable a priori) variational inequality with proper monotone operator are investigated. All the objects of inequality: the operatorA, the right-hand partf and the set of constrains are to be perturbed. At the same time no assumptions of boundedness and smoothness of the operatorA are used. The connection between the parameters of perturbations, which guarantees strong convergence of approximate solutions, is established. It is proved that the existence of the solution to the unperturbed variational inequality is necessary and sufficient condition for convergence of the regularized perturbed inequality solutions.This research was supported in part by the Ministry of Science Grant 3481-1-91 and by the Ministry of Absorption Center for Absorption in Science.  相似文献

The Banach algebra generated by one-dimensional linear singular integral operators with matrix valued piecewise continuous coefficients in the spaceL p (,) with an arbitrary weight is studied. The contour consists of a finite number of closed curves and open arcs with satisfy the Carleson condition. The contour may have a finite number of points of selfintersection. It is widely believed that order of exactness is a good measure of the quality of an algorithm for numerical quadrature. We show that this is not the case, by exhibiting a situation in which the optimal algorithm does not even integrate constants exactly. We also show that there are situations in which the penalty for using equidistant nodes is unbounded. Finally, we show that the complexity of obtaining an -approximation can be an arbitrary function of , i.e., there is no hardest quadrature problem.  相似文献

Summary The quartic periodic and nonperiodic X-spline are separated from the class of all piecewise-quartic interpolatory polynomials and their orders of convergence, smoothness and complexity of construction are examined. In particular, error estimates of interpolation of smooth functions at uniformly spaced knots by eight quartic X-splines of special interest are presented.
