This paper considers the problem of optimizing a continuous nonlinear objective function subject to linear constraints via a piecewise-linear approximation. A systematic approach is proposed, which uses a lattice piecewise-linear model to approximate the nonlinear objective function on a simplicial partition and determines an approximately globally optimal solution by solving a set of standard linear programs. The new approach is applicable to any continuous objective function rather than to separable ones only and could be useful to treat more complex nonlinear problems. A numerical example is given to illustrate the practicability.  相似文献

We consider the shape-topology optimization of the Navier–Stokes problem. A new algorithm is proposed based on the variational level set method. By this algorithm, a relatively smooth evolution can be maintained without re-initialization and drastic topology change can be handled easily. An efficient health monitoring system for damage detection in civil engineering structures using on-line monitoring data is being developed to identify any possible damage in short time. The present work is based on the treatment of uncertainties, which is one of the basic common difficulties faced when modelling structures. A methodology, based on interval analysis (IA) theory [R.E. Herrero, Bridge monitoring and assessment under uncertainty via interval analysis, in: Ninth International Conference On Structural Safety And Reliability—ICOSSAR2005, 2005. pp. 487–494] and modelling system of a long-term monitoring project in order to achieve such an objective. This operator is therefore also bounded on . Our results provide answers, in a particular instance, to the open question of the boundedness of Riesz operators on Lie groups of exponential growth. The main parts of the proof concern the behaviour of the kernel of the operator at infinity, and exploit cancellation.
