Dead cores of singular Dirichlet boundary value problems with ϕ-Laplacian

The paper discusses the existence of positive solutions, dead core solutions and pseudodead core solutions of the singular Dirichlet problem (ϕ(u′))′ = λf(t, u, u′), u(0) = u(T) = A. Here λ is the positive parameter, A > 0, f is singular at the value 0 of its first phase variable and may be singular at the value A of its first and at the value 0 of its second phase variable. Dirichlet and Neumann problems to critical Emden–Fowler type equations

We describe recent results on attainability of sharp constants in the Sobolev inequality, the Sobolev–Poincaré inequality, the Hardy–Sobolev inequality and related inequalities. This gives us the solvability of boundary value problems to critical Emden–Fowler equations.      

A controlled boundary theorem for Hilbert cube manifolds

In this paper a boundary theorem for Hilbert cube manifolds is established,where it is required that the boundary be put on the manifold with arbitrarily small control in a given compact metric parameter space.

<Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Laplace Operator and Diameter of Manifolds

Let be a compact Riemannian manifold without boundary. In this paper, we consider the first nonzero eigenvalue of the p-Laplacian and we prove that the limit of when is 2/d(M), where d(M) is the diameter of M. Moreover, if is an oriented compact hypersurface of the Euclidean space or , we prove an upper bound of in terms of the largest principal curvature κ over M. As applications of these results, we obtain optimal lower bounds of d(M) in terms of the curvature. In particular, we prove that if M is a hypersurface of then: . On positive solutions of eigenvalue problems for a class of \emph{p}-Laplacian fractional differential equations

In this paper, we are concerned with the eigenvalue problem of a class of \emph{p}-Laplacian fractional differential equations involving integral boundary conditions. New criteria are established for the existence of positive solutions of the problem under some superlinear and suberlinear conditions. The results of the existence of at least one, two and the nonexistence of positive solutions are also obtained by using the fixed point theory. Finally, several examples are provided to illustrate the obtained results.
