1,3-Bis[tris(trimethylsilyl)methyl]-2,4,5-trichalcogena-1,3-disilabicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes display unusual short bridgehead Si---Si distances despite the absence of formal Si—Si bonds, and chalcogen---chalcogen interactions are observed by nmr, X-ray analysis and electronic spectroscopy.

Review of the applications of different analytical techniques for coxibs research

An extensive survey of the literature published in analytical and pharmaceutical chemistry journals has been conducted and analytical methods which were developed and used for the determination of some of the COX-2 inhibitors, a subclass of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in bulk drugs, formulations, and biological fluids have been reviewed. This review covers the time period from 1999 to present, during which over 140 analytical procedures including chromatographic, spectrometric, electrophoretic and voltammetric techniques were reported. Presented applications concern analysis of coxibs from pharmaceutical formulations and biological samples.

λ-central BMO Estimates for Higher Order Commutators of Hardy Op erators

In this paper, the λ-central BMO estimates for higher order commuta-tors of Hardy operators on central Morrey space Lq,λ（Rn） are established. In the meanwhile, the corresponding corollary for central BMO estimates is also obtained.     

Temperature-independent refractometer based on fiber-optic Fabry–Perot interferometer

A miniature fiber-optic refractometer based on Fabry–Perot interferometer (FPI) has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The sensing head consists of a short section of photonics crystal fiber (PCF) spliced to a single mode fiber (SMF), in which the end-face of the PCF is etched to remove holey structure with hydrofluoric (HF) acid. A Fabry–Perot interference spectrum is achieved based on the reflections from the fusion splicing interface and the end-face of the core of PCF. The interference fringe is sensitive to the external refractive index (RI) with an intensity-referenced sensitivity of 358.27 dB/RIU ranging from 1.33 to 1.38. The sensor has also been implemented for the concentration measurement of λ-phage DNA solution. In addition, the dip intensity is insensitive to the ambient temperature variation, making it a good candidate for temperature-independent bio-sensing area.     

Pressure-induced solidifications of liquid sulfur below and above λ-transition

Two kinds of glassy sulfurs are synthesized by the rapid compression method from liquid sulfur at temperatures below and above the λ-transition point. The glassy sulfur has different colors and transparencies, depending on temperature, which may inherit some structural information from the λ-transition. Raman spectrum studies of these samples show that a large fraction of polymeric chains exist in the glassy sulfur, even in the one solidified from T T_λ. We find that a higher compression rate instead of a higher temperature of the parent liquid captures more polymeric chains. Pressure-induced glassy sulfur presents high thermal stability compared with temperature quenched glassy sulfur and could transform into liquid sulfur directly without crystallization through an abnormal exothermic melting course. High energy x-ray diffraction is utilized to study the local order of the pressure-induced glassy sulfur.
