Small-world and the growing properties of the Chinese railway network

By using the tools of statistical physics and recent investigations of the scaling properties of different complex networks, the structural and evolving properties of the Chinese railway network (CRN) is studied. It has been verified that the CRN has the same small-world properties of the Indian railway network (IRN). According to the class of small-world networks, we believe the CRN is a single scale. In addition, a novel result is obtained. Measurements on the CRN indicate that the rate at which nodes acquire links depends on the node’s degree and follows a power law.      

Growth of Lévy trees

We construct random locally compact real trees called Lévy trees that are the genealogical trees associated with continuous-state branching processes. More precisely, we define a growing family of discrete Galton–Watson trees with i.i.d. exponential branch lengths that is consistent under Bernoulli percolation on leaves; we define the Lévy tree as the limit of this growing family with respect to the Gromov–Hausdorff topology on metric spaces. This elementary approach notably includes supercritical trees and does not make use of the height process introduced by Le Gall and Le Jan to code the genealogy of (sub)critical continuous-state branching processes. We construct the mass measure of Lévy trees and we give a decomposition along the ancestral subtree of a Poisson sampling directed by the mass measure. T. A bartlett-type adjustment for the likelihood ratio statistic with an ordered alternative

For testing the equality of normal variances with an increasing alternative, under the null hypothesis the likelihood ratio test statistic is asymptotically distributed as a mixture of chi-squared distributions. In this paper a Bartlett-type adjustment is proposed to improve the approximation of the null distribution of the likelihood ratio test statistic with an ordered alternative.     

Rook theory and cycle-counting permutation statistics

A statistic is found to combinatorially generate the cycle-counting q-hit numbers, defined algebraically by Haglund [Adv. in Appl. Math. 17 (1996) 408–459]. We then define the notion of a cycle-Mahonian pair of statistics (generalizing that of a Mahonian statistic), and show that our newly discovered statistic is part of such a pair. Finally, we note a second example of a cycle-Mahonian pair of statistics which leads us to define the stronger property of being a cycle-Euler–Mahonian pair.     

Testing Extreme Value Conditions

A test statistic is developed that checks the validity of the extreme value conditions without specifiying the shape parameter of the limiting extreme value distribution.     

Gas chromatography of halogenated adamantanes

The main thermodynamic characteristics of the adsorption of haloadamantanes on graphitized thermal carbon black were determined by experimental measurements and by calculations in terms of molecular-statistic theory of adsorption. Using experimental data, the Kovac retention indices were calculated and the optimum conditions for gas-chromatographic separation of haloadamantanes on stationary phases with different polarity were elucidated. The influence of the cage effect in the adamantane unit on the chromatographic properties of haloadamantanes was established.     

Closer asymptotic approximations for the distributions of the power divergence goodness-of-fit statistics

Summary The members of the power divergence family of statistics all have an asymptotically equivalent χ² distribution (Cressie and Read [1]). An asymptotic expansion for the distribution function is derived which shows that the speed of convergence to this asymptotic limit is dependent on λ. Known results for Pearson'sX ² statistic and the log-likelihood ratio statistic then appear as special cases in a continuum rather than as separate (unrelated) expansions.     

Critical Analysis of Hypothesis Tests in Federal Information Processing Standard (140-2)

This work presents an analysis of the existing dependencies between the tests of the FIPS 140-2 battery. Two main analytical approaches are utilized, the first being a study of correlations through the Pearson’s correlation coefficient that detects linear dependencies, and the second one being a novel application of the mutual information measure that allows detecting possible non-linear relationships. In order to carry out this study, the FIPS 140-2 battery is reimplemented to allow the user to obtain p-values and statistics that are essential for more rigorous end-user analysis of random number generators (RNG).     

基于尺度质心统计的纹理分析

结合目前纹理分析的三类算法,提出了尺度质心统计的分析算法。该算法以具有多分辨率特性的小波包为基础,结合结构法的纹理元分析方式,采用区域质心完成局部特征提取,最后使用投影法进行整体的特征提取。实验证明,尺度质心统计取得了令人满意的纹理分析效果。
