The purpose of this paper is to present a new primal extreme point algorithm for solving assignment problems which both circumvents and exploits degeneracy. The algorithm is based on the observation that the degeneracy difficulties of the simplex method result from the unnecessary inspection of alternative basis representations of the extreme points. This paper characterizes a subsetQ of all bases that are capable of leading to an optimal solution to the problem if one exists. Using this characterization, an extreme point algorithm is developed which considers only those bases inQ. Computational results disclose that the new algorithm is substantially more efficient than previously developed primal and primal-dual extreme point (simplex) methods for assignment problems. 相似文献

In Part I of this study, we suggest to identify an operations research (OR) problem with the equivalence class of models describing the problem and enhance the standard computer-science theory of computational complexity to be applicable to this situation of an often model-based OR context. The Discrete Lot-sizing and Scheduling Problem (DLSP) is analysed here in detail to demonstrate the difficulties which can arise if these aspects are neglected and to illustrate the new theoretical concept. In addition, a new minimal model is introduced for the DLSP which makes this problem eventually amenable to a rigorous analysis of its computational complexity. 相似文献

This paper defines a set of material compatibility constraints for use in order promising mixed integer programs. The constraints always represent a necessary condition for compatibility and, in certain cases, are both necessary and sufficient. Various problems associated with optimal path planning for mobile observers such as mobile robots equipped with cameras to obtain maximum visual coverage of a surface in the three-dimensional Euclidean space are considered. The existence of solutions to these problems is discussed first. Then, optimality conditions are derived by considering local path perturbations. The 3D modelling of indoor environments and the generation of process simulations play an important role in factory and assembly planning. In brownfield planning cases, existing data are often outdated and incomplete especially for older plants, which were mostly planned in 2D. Thus, current environment models cannot be generated directly on the basis of existing data and a holistic approach on how to build such a factory model in a highly automated fashion is mostly non-existent. Major steps in generating an environment model of a production plant include data collection, data pre-processing and object identification as well as pose estimation. In this work, we elaborate on a methodical modelling approach, which starts with the digitalization of large-scale indoor environments and ends with the generation of a static environment or simulation model. The object identification step is realized using a Bayesian neural network capable of point cloud segmentation. We elaborate on the impact of the uncertainty information estimated by a Bayesian segmentation framework on the accuracy of the generated environment model. The steps of data collection and point cloud segmentation as well as the resulting model accuracy are evaluated on a real-world data set collected at the assembly line of a large-scale automotive production plant. The Bayesian segmentation network clearly surpasses the performance of the frequentist baseline and allows us to considerably increase the accuracy of the model placement in a simulation scene. 相似文献

Lot sizing procedures for discrete and dynamic demand form a distinct class of inventory control problems, usually referred to asmaterial requirements planning. A general integer programming formulation is presented, covering an extensive range of problems: single-item, multi-item, and multi-level optimization; conditions on lot sizes and time phasing; conditions on storage and production capacities; and changes in production and storage costs per unit. In this paper, we consider a periodic preventive maintenance, repair, and production model of a flexible manufacturing system with failure-prone machines, where the control variables are the repair rate and production rate. We use periodic preventive maintenance to reduce the machine failure rates and improve the productivity of the system. One of the distinct features of the model is that the repair rate is adjustable. Our objective is to choose a control process that minimizes the total cost of inventory/shortage, production, repair, and maintenance. Under suitable conditions, we show that the value function is locally Lipschitz and satisfies an Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation. A sufficient condition for optimal control is obtained. Since analytic solutions are rarely available, we design an algorithm to approximate the optimal control problem.
