Uniform estimate for the tail probabilities of randomly weighted sums

Several authors have studied the uniform estimate for the tail probabilities of randomly weighted sumsa.ud their maxima. In this paper, we generalize their work to the situation thatis a sequence of upper tail asymptotically independent random variables with common distribution from the is a sequence of nonnegative random variables, independent of and satisfying some regular conditions. Moreover. no additional assumption is required on the dependence structureof {θi,i≥ 1）.

Dual extremum principles for geometrically exact finite strain beams

Both necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of two complementary-dual extremum principles for geometrically exact finite strain (one-dimensional) beam models are investigated by means of two different approaches. One is based on the results published by Gao and Strang, and the other relies on the approach proposed by Noble and Sewell. While the former is limited to beam models restricted to moderate large deformations, the latter is valid for arbitrarily large deformations (and strains). The numerical implementation of the complementary-dual extremum principles can lead to simple true global upper bounds of the error of the approximate solutions.     

The method of upper and lower solutions and impulsive fractional differential inclusions

In this paper the concept of lower and upper solutions combined with the fixed point theorem of Bohnnenblust–Karlin is used to investigate the existence of solutions for a class of the initial value problem for impulsive differential inclusions involving the Caputo fractional derivative.
