Measurement of fiber propagation constants using a prism-fiber coupler

We report on the use of a prism-fiber coupler to determine the propagation constants for the scalar modes in an optical fiber by measuring, respectively, the incident angle, θ_i, and the position of the m-lines coupled out of the fiber by the prism coupler. The position is related to the value of the corresponding propagation constant. The degeneracy of the modes is shown on the m-line photographs. Good agreement is obtained between measured and calculated values of the propagation constants.

Determination of inorganic anions in ethyl acetate by in-line hollow fiber membrane extraction with ion chromatography

In this work,a novel hollow fiber membrane extractor was set up to extract inorganic anions from ethyl acetate using deionized water.Inorganic anions in slightly soluble organic solvents can be determined by the in-line hollow fiber membrane extractor coupled with ion chromatography at first time.Different aspects of the extraction procedure such as magnetic stirring speed, extraction flow rate and extraction time were optimized to achieve high extraction efficiency and good separation results. The Application of Mode-Locked Laser Technologies to Long Distance Transmission and Control of Soliton

The control scheme of long distance optical transmission is treated based on conception of mode-locked Laser cavity in this paper. The general mode-locking equation of fiber ring soliton Laser is first constructed, then we give the general perturbed nonlinear schrödinger equation, and finally the transmission and control equations of optical soliton communication systems with various different configurations, respectively, are obtained.     

Estimates of a certain sum involving coefficients of cusp forms in weight and level aspects

We consider the sum of coefficients which are in the Dirichlet series expansion of symmetric square L-functions. In this paper, we obtain two estimates of this sum in weight and level aspects. These imply two estimates of the sum of the n ²th Fourier coefficients of cusp forms.
