Weierstrass Points and Regular Maps

It was shown by G. A. Jones and the first author in [8] that underlying any map on a compact orientable surface S there is a natural complex structure making S into a Riemann surface. In this paper we consider regular maps and enquire about the Weierstrass points on the underlying Riemann surface. We are particularly interested to know when these are geometric, i.e. whether they lie at vertices, face-centres or edge-centres of the map.     

A Simple Chaotic Circuit with Impulsive Switch Depending on Time and State

This paper presents a simple chaotic circuit consisting of two capacitors, one linear two-port VCCS and one time-state-controlled impulsive switch. The impulsive switch causes rich chaotic and periodic behavior. The circuit dynamics can be simplified into a one-dimensional return map that is piecewise linear and piecewise monotone. Using the return map, we clarify parameter conditions for existence of chaotic and periodic attractors and coexistence state of attractors.     

Quantum-Chemical Evaluation of the Protolytic Properties of Thiophenols

The enthalpies and free energies of proton affinity (PA) were calculated by the PM3 method for 27 thiophenoxide anions. For thiophenols, linear correlation has been found between the PAs and the values of pK _a measured by different authors in aqueous acetone, aqueous ethanol, and methanol media. The dependences found permit one to predict a priori the protolytic properties of thiophenols. The differential effects of aqueous ethanol media with different ethanol contents on thiophenol acidity were evaluated based on quantum-chemical data.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2004 by A. N. Hochschild Cohomologies of the Algebra of Smooth Functions

Based on the previously developed technique using the Laplace transformation of distributions with compact support, we calculate the Hochschild cohomologies of the algebra of smooth functions on a finite-dimensional real vector space with coefficients in the adjoint representation.

利用MetaMorph软件定量分析了中国莲(Nelumbo mucifera Gaertn.)每条前中期染色体上(从短臂到长臂)二脒基苯基吲哚(DAPI)荧光强度的变化，结合染色体的相对长度和臂比作为辅助参数，构建了中国莲前中期染色体的定量染色体图．该定量染色体图是实际的前中期染色体的一种直观模式，可识别中国莲基因组中每条染色体以及分析染色体上的异染色质分布，为莲的细胞遗传学研究提供了一种新的方法．     

Invariants for normal completely positive maps on the hyperfinite II1 factor

We investigate certain classes of normal completely positive (CP) maps on the hyperfinite II₁ factorA. Using the representation theory of a suitable irrational rotation algebra, we propose some computable invariants for such CP maps. Dedicated to Professor K B Sinha     

遗传程序设计中分布式染色体的一个应用

对一类遗传程序设计问题，提出了简单等长的分布式染色体，取代复杂变长的树结构染色体，使演化算子操作更方便，个体复杂度得到有效控制．用该染色体形式解决割草问题，分析了分布式染色体带来的一些性质，并给出了很好的计算结果．

利用精炼的C语言进行程序设计，定量模拟狭义相结论的运动时钟变慢，并对处于两种不同时空观的时钟运行进行对比，使得时间膨胀效应变得直观。     

Noise-induced asymptotic periodicity in a piecewise linear map

We examine asymptotically periodic density evolution in one-dimensional maps perturbed by noise, associating the macroscopic state of these dynamical systems with a phase space density. For asymptotically periodic systems density evolution becomes periodic in time, as do some macroscopic properties calculated from them. The general formalism of asymptotic periodicity is examined and used to calculate time correlations along trajectories of these maps as well as their limiting conditional entropy. The time correlation is shown to naturally decouple into periodic and stochastic components. Finally, asymptotic periodicity is studied in a noise-perturbed piecewise linear map, focusing on how the variation of noise amplitude can cause a transition from asymptotic periodicity to asymptotic stability in the density evolution of this system.
