We propose an iterative algorithm for solving a semicoercive nonsmooth variational inequality. We study the existence, nonexistence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a family of problems −Δpu=fλ(x,u), , where Ω is a bounded domain in RN, N>p, and λ>0 is a parameter. The family we consider includes the well-known nonlinearities of Ambrosetti-Brezis-Cerami type in a more general form, namely λa(x)uq+b(x)ur, where 0?q<p−1<r?p∗−1. Here the coefficient a(x) is assumed to be nonnegative but b(x) is allowed to change sign, even in the critical case. Preliminary results of independent interest include the extension to the p-Laplacian context of the Brezis-Nirenberg result on local minimization in and , a C1,α estimate for equations of the form −Δpu=h(x,u) with h of critical growth, a strong comparison result for the p-Laplacian, and a variational approach to the method of upper-lower solutions for the p-Laplacian. 相似文献

One class of the lately developed methods for solving optimization problems are filter methods. In this paper we attached a multidimensional filter to the Gauss-Newton-based BFGS method given by Li and Fukushima [D. Li, M. Fukushima, A globally and superlinearly convergent Gauss-Newton-based BFGS method for symmetric nonlinear equations, SIAM Journal of Numerical Analysis 37(1) (1999) 152-172] in order to reduce the number of backtracking steps. The proposed filter method for unconstrained minimization problems converges globally under the standard assumptions. It can also be successfully used in solving systems of symmetric nonlinear equations. Numerical results show reasonably good performance of the proposed algorithm. 相似文献

Recovering low-rank and sparse matrix from a given matrix arises in many applications, such as image processing, video background substraction, and so on. The 3-block alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) has been applied successfully to solve convex problems with 3-block variables. However, the existing sufficient conditions to guarantee the convergence of the 3-block ADMM usually require the penalty parameter $\gamma$ to satisfy a certain bound, which may affect the performance of solving the large scale problem in practice. In this paper, we propose the 3-block ADMM to recover low-rank and sparse matrix from noisy observations. In theory, we prove that the 3-block ADMM is convergent when the penalty parameters satisfy a certain condition and the objective function value sequences generated by 3-block ADMM converge to the optimal value. Numerical experiments verify that proposed method can achieve higher performance than existing methods in terms of both efficiency and accuracy. 相似文献

In this paper, the proximal point algorithm for quasi-convex minimization problem in nonpositive curvature metric spaces is studied. We prove Δ-convergence of the generated sequence to a critical point (which is defined in the text) of an objective quasi-convex, proper and lower semicontinuous function with at least a minimum point as well as some strong convergence results to a minimum point with some additional conditions. In this paper, a new type of stepsize, approximate optimal stepsize, for gradient method is introduced to interpret the Barzilai–Borwein (BB) method, and an efficient gradient method with an approximate optimal stepsize for the strictly convex quadratic minimization problem is presented. Based on a multi-step quasi-Newton condition, we construct a new quadratic approximation model to generate an approximate optimal stepsize. We then use the two well-known BB stepsizes to truncate it for improving numerical effects and treat the resulted approximate optimal stepsize as the new stepsize for gradient method. We establish the global convergence and R-linear convergence of the proposed method. Numerical results show that the proposed method outperforms some well-known gradient methods. 相似文献

The goal of this paper is to find a low‐rank approximation for a given nth tensor. Specifically, we give a computable strategy on calculating the rank of a given tensor, based on approximating the solution to an NP‐hard problem. In this paper, we formulate a sparse optimization problem via an l1‐regularization to find a low‐rank approximation of tensors. To solve this sparse optimization problem, we propose a rescaling algorithm of the proximal alternating minimization and study the theoretical convergence of this algorithm. Furthermore, we discuss the probabilistic consistency of the sparsity result and suggest a way to choose the regularization parameter for practical computation. In the simulation experiments, the performance of our algorithm supports that our method provides an efficient estimate on the number of rank‐one tensor components in a given tensor. Moreover, this algorithm is also applied to surveillance videos for low‐rank approximation. 相似文献

By modifing the Green''s function method we study certain spectral aspects of discontinuous Sturm-Liouville problems with interior singularities. Firstly, we define four eigen-solutions and construct the Green''s function in terms of them. Based on the Green''s function we establish the uniform convergeness of generalized Fourier series as eigenfunction expansion in the direct sum of Lebesgue spaces $L_2$ where the usual inner product replaced by new inner product. Finally, we extend and generalize such important spectral properties as Parseval equation, Rayleigh quotient and Rayleigh-Ritz formula (minimization principle) for the considered problem. 相似文献
