Although the double Friedel–Crafts acylation of arenes with ethyl chloroglyoxylate is hindered by the strongly deactivating effect of the first‐entering glyoxylic substituent, the double reaction is successful with the reactive arene perylene under long reaction times and with concomitant ester hydrolysis. The reaction is regiospecific, giving the 3,9‐regioisomer exclusively. This perylenylenediglyoxylic acid is condensed first with o‐bromophenylacetic acid and then with α‐branched alkylamines to yield the title compounds. Whilst the corresponding tetraalkyl esters only show monotropic mesophases, these diimides show enantiotropic columnar mesophases that can be maintained at room temperature if racemically branched alkyl chains of moderate size are used. A palladium‐induced C?C bond migration during the build‐up of the arene system leads to an isomeric side product of reduced symmetry that can be isolated by aggregation‐controlled chromatographic separation. The HOMO and LUMO energies of the title compounds are considerably higher than those of established perylenetetracarboxdiimides.  相似文献

The curing kinetics and network buildup during curing of epoxy–anhydride formulations using tertiary amines as initiators are reviewed in this work. A mechanism‐based kinetic and structural model has been defined, showing better prediction capabilities than previous living polymerization and simple regeneration models. The curing kinetics have been analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and the gelation during curing has been determined by combined thermomechanical analysis and DSC. The effect of initiator content and epoxy equivalent weight are taken into account. The network buildup has been modeled using a stochastic network buildup model based on the random combination of primary chains generated by the kinetic model. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Three conjugated polymers with the dithienobenzimidazole (DTBIm) unit ( P1 , P3 , and P4 ) and one conjugated polymer with the dithienobenzoxazole unit ( P2 ) were synthesized by the cross‐coupling polymerization. The absorption maxima showed a red‐shift in the order of P3 (406 nm), P2 (426 nm), P1 (438 nm), and P4 (450 nm), which was studied in detail using the frontier molecular orbital calculation of the model compounds. The energy levels of the highest occupied molecular orbital and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital of the DTBIm unit‐containing conjugated polymers were estimated by the cyclic voltammetry. The transformation from DTBIm ( P4 ) to dithienobenzimidazolium ( P4' ) was also carried out to shift the absorption maxima of P4' (454 nm) by promoting the intramolecular charge transfer between the DTBIm and thiophene units. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of thermoresponsive polypeptides bearing 1‐butyl, 1‐hexyl, or 1‐dodecyl side‐chains (i.e., 6a ‐ 6c ) were synthesized by copper‐mediated 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition with high grafting efficiency (>95%) between side‐chain “clickable” polypeptide, namely poly(γ‐4‐(propargoxycarbonyl)benzyl‐L‐glutamate) ( 5 ) and 1‐azidoalkanes. 5 with different degree of polymerization (DP = 48–86) were prepared from triethylamine initiated ring‐opening polymerization of γ‐4‐(propargoxycarbonyl)benzyl‐L‐glutamic acid based N‐carboxyanhydride ( 4 ). 1H NMR, FTIR, and GPC results revealed the successful preparation of the resulting polypeptides. 6a ‐ 6c showed reversible UCST‐type phase behaviors in methanol, ethanol, and ethanol/water solvent mixtures depending on the polymer main‐chain length, alkyl side‐chain length, weight percentage of ethanol (fw) in the binary solvent, and so forth. FTIR analysis revealed the presence of the van der Waals interaction between the alkyl pendants of polypeptides and alkyl groups of alcoholic solvents. Variable‐temperature UV‐vis spectroscopy revealed that the UCST‐type phase transition temperature (Tpt) increased as polymer main‐chain length or concentration increased. In ethanol/water solvent mixtures, polypeptide with short alkyl pendant (i.e., 1‐butyl group) and short main‐chain length (DP = 41) showed the widest fw range and Tpts in the range of 61.0–71.1 °C. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Since extraction of the naturally occurring mussel‐foot proteins is expensive and time‐consuming, routes towards synthetic analogues are continuously being explored. Often, these methods involve several protection and deprotection steps, making the synthesis of synthetic analogues time‐consuming and expensive as well. Herein, we show that UV‐initiated thiol‐ene coupling between a thiol‐functional dopamine derivative and an allyl‐functional aliphatic polycarbonate can be used as a fast and facile route to dopa‐functional materials. Different thiol‐to‐allyl ratios and irradiation protocols were used and it was found that nearly 50% of the allyl groups could be functionalized with dopa within short reaction times, without the need of protecting the catechol. It is also demonstrated herein that the dopa‐functional polymers can be used to form self‐healing gels through complexation with Fe3+ ions at increased pH. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Abstract

It is well known that when a ring R satisfies ACC on right annihilators of elements, then the right singular ideal of R is nil, in this case, we say R is right nil-singular. Many classes of rings whose singular ideals are nil, but do not satisfy the ACC on right annihilators, are presented and the behavior of them is investigated with respect to various constructions, in particular skew polynomial rings and triangular matrix rings. The class of right nil-singular rings contains π-regular rings and is closed under direct sums. Examples are provided to explain and delimit our results.  相似文献

Cyclic tetraaryl[5]cumulenes ( 1 a–f ) have been synthesized and studied as a function of increasing ring strain. The magnitude of ring strain is approximated by the extent of bending of the cumulenic core as assessed by a combination of X-ray crystallographic analysis and DFT calculations. Trends are observed in 13C NMR, UV-vis, and Raman spectra associated with ring strain, but the effects are small. In particular, the experimental HOMO-LUMO gap is not appreciably affected by bending of the [5]cumulene framework from ca. 174° (λmax=504 nm) in 1 a to ca. 178° (λmax=494 nm) in 1 f .  相似文献
