Comprehensive quality control programme for serology and nucleic acid testing using an Internet-based application

The National Serology Reference Laboratory, Australia (NRL) has quality assured the serology for high risk blood-borne infections since 1985, commencing with anti-Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) enzyme immunoassays and later extending the programmes to other blood-borne virus testing and to nucleic acid testing. A quality control (QC) programme was considered the most appropriate manner in which to achieve real-time monitoring. An Internet-based application, EDCNet, facilitates the entry of results of QC sample testing and returns the analysed results instantaneously. Results can be displayed in a variety of tables and charts, so that QC results from blood service and diagnostic laboratories can be monitored. Comparison of results between laboratories using the same system offers monitoring of accuracy, while within-laboratory comparisons offer monitoring of the assay precision. More than 200,000 data points were submitted to EDCNet in 2002 from blood service laboratories as well as from diagnostic laboratories. Analysis of reagent batch variability was determined, e.g. the coefficient of variation between batches of seven assays used to detect anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibodies ranged from 4.9% to 21.6%. Using EDCNet, laboratories can monitor both precision and accuracy of results by comparison with the results of other laboratories. The system may be a highly cost-effective method for maintaining quality.

Covering arrays with mixed alphabet sizes

Covering arrays with mixed alphabet sizes, or simply mixed covering arrays, are natural generalizations of covering arrays that are motivated by applications in software and network testing. A (mixed) covering array A of type is a k × N array with the cells of row i filled with elements from ? and having the property that for every two rows i and j and every ordered pair of elements (e,f) ∈ ? × ?, there exists at least one column c, 1 ≤ c ≤ N, such that A_i,c = e and A_j,c = f. The (mixed) covering array number, denoted by , is the minimum N for which a covering array of type with N columns exists. In this paper, several constructions for mixed covering arrays are presented, and the mixed covering array numbers are determined for nearly all cases with k = 4 and for a number of cases with k = 5. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 螺状相液晶旋光特性理论模拟与实验研究

利用旋光理论模拟了一种用于螺状相液晶显示器(CH-LCD)的螺状相液晶的旋光率与入射波长、螺距的关系,并从理论上给予定量分析;用磁光调制倍频法测试了这种螺状相液晶旋光率随温度变化的规律,并利用所测的旋光率的值计算得出这种螺状相液晶的螺距、折射率、及双折射率随温度变化的规律;对模拟结果给予了实验验证。     

一种高光谱图像波段选择的快速混合搜索算法

由于高光谱图像的高数据维和大数据量,现有的波段选择方法大多不能同时具有良好的效果和较短的计算时间。提出了一种用于高光谱图像波段选择的新方法——快速混合搜索算法。该算法将全局搜索和局部寻优有机的结合起来,能够在较短的时间内获得最佳的波段组合,用于高光谱图像的目标分类识别。快速混合搜索算法克服了传统搜索方法在高光谱图像波段选择中的缺陷,能够在提高所选波段性能的同时节省大量的运算时间。分别利用200波段和126波段的AVIRIS对其数据进行了仿真实验。实验结果表明,快速混合搜索算法在所选波段性能和计算耗时方面都获得了令人满意的效果。     

Determination of correlation coefficient for experimental and theoretical voltammetric characteristics of solar element

A method is proposed for automating measurements and calculations of the correlation coefficient for experimental and theoretical (CCET) current-voltage characteristics (CVC) of solar elements. 聚合物集成光学陀螺最佳耦合系数的研究

无源环形谐振腔(Passive ring resonator,PRR)是谐振式光学陀螺(Resonator optic gyros,ROG)的核心敏感器件,其光学传递函数的半峰全宽是决定陀螺标度因子的重要因素之一。根据多光束干涉理论,耦合系数将通过对反射式无源环形谐振腔的半峰全宽的作用而影响陀螺的标度因子。根据耦合模理论和调频检测原理,以标度因子最优为判据,推导了一般情形下耦合系数对标度因子的影响,论证了最佳耦合系数的存在与确定方法,并进行了仿真验证。结果表明,光纤陀螺中5%左右的最佳耦合系数取值不具有普遍意义,为较高波导传输损耗的聚合物集成光学陀螺结构优化提供一种新的思路。     

A methodology for measuring the readability and modifiability of computer programs

This paper describes an experimentally based methodology for investigating how the readability and modifiability of computer programs can be expressed in terms of programming style.As one part of the methodology three different measures of the readability and modifiability of a program are established. The measures are obtained by human gradings or scores. As another part these measures are related to computer-evaluable programming style characteristics. The result is a formula yielding the readability and modifiability as a function of measurable program characteristics.In testing the methodology one experiment provided a formula of readability containing six computer-evaluable programming style characteristics. A further experiment indicated that the general validity of this formula of program readability needs further investigation.
