Approximations for Steiner Trees with Minimum Number of Steiner Points   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Given n terminals in the Euclidean plane and a positive constant, find a Steiner tree interconnecting all terminals with the minimum number of Steiner points such that the Euclidean length of each edge is no more than the given positive constant. This problem is NP-hard with applications in VLSI design, WDM optical networks and wireless communications. In this paper, we show that (a) the Steiner ratio is 1/ 4, that is, the minimum spanning tree yields a polynomial-time approximation with performance ratio exactly 4, (b) there exists a polynomial-time approximation with performance ratio 3, and (c) there exists a polynomial-time approxi-mation scheme under certain conditions.  相似文献

Abstract

The performance of a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system with optical cross-connects (OXCs) and in the presence of polarization and nonlinear effects was analyzed. We determined the effect of PMD and PDL; nonlinearity such as XPM, SPM, and FWM; and CD on the system performance. We found that the system outage probability is highest at DGD threshold for the respective maximum eye closure (EC). We showed that the allowable DGD depends on the time slot for one bit T, which is the inverse of the network bit rate. Wider T is more immune to large PMD with the EC still maintained at the same level since DGD/T is unchanged. Our analysis also indicated that as DGD increases, BER increases. The BER also increases with increase in PDL and further increases with the presence of XPM, SPM, FWM, and CD.  相似文献

在传统的网络路由算法中,一般采用最短路径算法进行路由选路,最短路径算法以节点间的距离为权重,计算一条由源节点至目的节点的权重最小的路径以完成路由。最短路径算法虽然最小化了距离长度代价,却没有考虑能耗问题,所以使用最短路径算法所得出路径的能耗并不一定是最小的。针对这一问题,提出一种新型的综合性绿色路由算法,设定能耗作为节点间的权重,融合光旁路及业务量疏导,同时考虑路由和波长分配(RWA)问题,将完成每个业务所需要的能耗最小化,实现节能。仿真结果表明,与最短路径算法相比,绿色路由算法在较大规模网络中能够节省约40%的能耗,节能效果相当显著。  相似文献

A theoretical model for crosstalk in multichannel wavelength division multiplexing communication systems due to cross phase saturation in semiconductor optical amplifier structure is developed. This theoretical model is used to analyze the impact of the cross phase noise on the performance of semiconductor optical amplifiers in saturation region for WDM communication system by using differential phase shift modulation format. It is shown that by increasing the carrier life time, width and thickness while reducing the confinement factor, differential gain and bias current in the SOA structure mitigates the cross talk due to cross phase saturation. The impact of penalty and cross phase noise imposed on multichannel WDM links have been investigated for different parameters of the SOA with the variation in transmission distance. With the slight increase in differential gain of 200.2 × 10−18 cm2 and confinement factor 0.41, the maximum transmission distance observed is 5220 km with good quality and nil power penalty for 10 × 40 Gb/s soliton RZ-DPSK WDM signals for the first time.  相似文献

研制了一种多波长啁啾光纤布拉格 (Bragg)光栅 ,波长、波长间隔符合ITU T标准 ,利用这种多波长啁啾光栅可以同时对多信道波长进行色散补偿 ,光栅的每个波长补偿范围满足ITU T对应信道波长波动的要求 ,并进行了 4× 10Gb/s、4 12km波分复用色散补偿实验 ,实验结果比色散补偿光纤模块要好 ,无误码功率代价都小于 2dB。  相似文献

Photonic all-optical switching is widely considered as one of the technique to utilize the enormous optical bandwidth. Optical packet switching provides high speed, data rate transparency, data format transparency, efficient use of bandwidth and flexibility. To resolve the conflict during contention, packets are needed to be buffered. Due to the lack of optical RAM, fiber delay lines (FDLs) are the most suited option to buffer the packets. This paper proposes new optical packet switch architecture alongwith feedback shared buffer utilizing the advantage of WDM loop buffer memory. The loop buffer module used in this switch architecture is a new approach towards WDM buffering of packets. The mathematical modeling is done to validate the results obtained from simulation.  相似文献

A selection criterion for mode filters based on far-field patterns is developed. The criterion is used to select a mandrel wrap filter for 50 μm core diameter, 125 μm outside diameter fibers with δ=1.1%. When cut-back loss measurements were made using the mandrel wrap chosen in this way, loss scaled with length to within ± 0.05 dB/km in three 2-km fibers.  相似文献
