We study the asymptotic properties of both the horizontal and vertical shift functions based on independent ranked set samples drawn from continuous distributions. Several tests derived from these shift processes are developed. We show that by using balanced ranked set samples with bigger set sizes, one can decrease the width of the confidence band and hence increase the power of these tests. These theoretical findings are validated through small-scale simulation studies. An application of the proposed techniques to a cancer mortality data set is also provided. Part of the research was conducted while Kaushik Ghosh was visiting Statistical Research and Applications Branch of the National Cancer Institute on an Intergovernmental Personnel Assignment.  相似文献

All-optical shift registers are basic building modules for the development of ultra-high speed optical time division multiplexing networks. In this paper, we review the progress that has been made in this cutting-edge technology, focusing on implementations that exploit the attractive features of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-based interferometric configurations. We present regenerative storage performed with an all-optical recirculating shift register with an inverter at 10 Gb/s using a SOA-assisted Sagnac switch and a second SOA to provide feedback. We demonstrate also an all-optical memory based on the SOA-assisted Ultrafast Nonlinear Interferometer capable of reading/writing 20 Gb/s packets of variable length without data inversion. These registers can find application in the development of two nontrivial complex all-optical circuits of enhanced functionality. The first is an all-optical pseudorandom binary sequence generator for which we describe an efficient design algorithm and propose ways for monitoring and verification. The second is an all-optical error counter for which we address the error detection and evaluation issues using a novel sampling technique. These circuits are key elements for the implementation of a high-speed, all-optical bit error rate tester (BERT), which has the potential to outperform its electronic equivalent and constitute a possible new product for the telecommunications industry.  相似文献

In this paper we give an approximate probability distribution for the maximum order complexity of a random binary sequence. This enables the development of statistical tests based on maximum order complexity for the testing of a binary sequence generator. Let W be a finite Coxeter group acting linearly on Rn. In this article we study the support properties of a W-invariant partial differential operator D on Rn with real analytic coefficients. Our assumption is that the principal symbol of D has a special form, related to the root system corresponding to W. In particular the zeros of the principal symbol are supposed to be located on hyperplanes fixed by reflections in W. We show that conv(suppDf)=conv(suppf) holds for all compactly supported smooth functions f so that conv(suppf) is W-invariant. The main tools in the proof are Holmgren's uniqueness theorem and some elementary convex geometry. Several examples and applications linked to the theory of special functions associated with root systems are presented.  相似文献

Since its introduction, the Sundberg model of the laryngeal system as the resonance source of the singer's formant has gained wide acceptance. However, no studies directly testing this hypothesis in vivo have previously been reported. Thus, the present study was undertaken to test this hypothesis on three classically trained professional male singers. The vocal behaviors of the singer-subjects were evaluated during modal and pulse register phonation via magnetic resonance imaging, strobolaryngoscopy, and acoustic analysis. Results indicated the subjects did not achieve the laryngopharyngeal/laryngeal outlet cross-sectional area ratio requisite to the model and that the formant remained robust in pulse register phonation. It was concluded that these subjects' behaviors were not consistent with Sundberg's model and that the model was inadequate to account for the generation of the singer's formant in these three subjects.  相似文献

采用移位算子方法把时域有限差分法推广应用于二维磁各向异性色散介质—磁化铁氧体中.证明了电磁波横向入射二维轴向磁化铁氧体目标情形下,电磁波可按目标的轴向分解为横电波(TE波)和横磁波(TM波),且TE波的散射特性与铁氧体介质无关,而TM波的散射特性与介质电磁参量密切相关,同时对其物理原因进行了分析.通过采用移位算子方法处理磁化铁氧体频域本构关系,得到该情形下目标电磁散射的移位算子时域有限差的迭代计算公式,同时解决了电磁波在各向异性和频率色散介质中传播的问题.计算了轴向磁化铁氧体涂敷VonKarman型导体柱的TM波双站雷达散射截面,分析了铁氧体参量对目标双站雷达散射截面的影响.结果表明:恰当地选择铁氧体参量能有效地减少目标的雷达散射截面,本文时谐因子取exp〔jωt〕.  相似文献

We develop an asymmetric multi-channel sampling on a shift invariant space V(?) with a Riesz generator ?(t) in L2(R), where each channeled signal is assigned a uniform but distinct sampling rate. We use Fourier duality between V(?) and L2[0,2π] to find conditions under which there is a stable asymmetric multi-channel sampling formula on V(?).  相似文献

The Matsumoto K0-group is an interesting invariant of flow equivalence for symbolic dynamical systems. Because of its origin as the K-theory of a certain C-algebra, which is also a flow invariant, this group comes equipped with a flow invariant order structure. We emphasize this order structure and demonstrate how methods from operator algebra and symbolic dynamics combine to allow a computation of it in certain cases, including Sturmian and primitive substitutional shifts. In the latter case we show by example that the ordered group is a strictly finer invariant than the group itself.  相似文献
