The Reaction of 4-Formylsydnone with Nitroalkanes

Under various basic solutions and reaction durations, 3-substituted 4-formyIsydnones and nitroalkanes containing α-active hydrogen (e.g. nitromethane and nitroethane) are converted to β-nitroalcohols, nitroalkenes and dinitroalkanes. β-Nitroalcohols are obtained only by electrochemical reaction on an electrogenerated base (EGB). The mechanism of overall reaction steps in particular is discussed.

Synthesis and Structure Studies of Ba₂H[α-FeO₄W₁₂O₃₆] · 26 H₂O The heteropolyanion compound Ba₂H[α-FeO₄W₁₂O₃₆] · 26 H₂O (I) crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4 n2 with the lattice parameters a = 12.398(6), c = 18.721(6) Å; Z = 2; D_x = 4.128 g · cm^?3. The structure was solved on a twinned crystal from 1029 observed reflections and refined to an index R of 7.6%. The calculations were done by means of a modified ORFLS-programme by Eitel and Bärnighausen. The heteropolyanion [α-FeO₄W₁₂O₃₆]^5? has the well known α-Keggin structure. The average distance of the four central oxygen atoms to the Fe^III position (0, 0, 0) is 1.84 Å. The angles ? O? Fe? O are 112.3° (4X) and 103.9 (2X), respectively, which leads to an disphenoidal distortion of the FeO₄ tetrahedron. The powder and single crystal ESR spectra of I show the anisotropy of the Fe^III fine structure transition 1/2 ? ?1/2. The Mößbauer spectra confirm the tetragonal distortion of the central FeO₄ tetrahedron (quadrupole splitting Δ ≈ 0.50 mm · s^?1).

The reaction of oxindoles with 5-hydroxypyrazolidines on the surface of potassium fluoride-modified alumina leads to 3-(5-pyrazolidinyl)oxindoles. The structure of these products was studied.     

Synthesis of Substituted Hydroxyspiro([1]benzopyran-2,4'(1'H)-pyrimidine)-2'(3'H)thiones and Hydroxyspiro-([1]benzopyran-2,4'(1'H)-pyrimidin)-2'(3'H)ones

We have developed a novel regioselective method for synthesis of substituted spiro([1]benzopyran-2,4'-(1'H)pyrimidine)-2'-(3'H)thiones and spiro([1]benzopyran-2,4'-(1'H)pyrimidin)-2'-(3'H)ones having one or two hydroxyl groups on the benzene ring.     

Selective Determination of Trace Mercury (II) after Preconcentration with 4-(2-Pyridylazo)-Resorcinol-Modified Nanometer-Sized SiO2 Particles from Sample Solutions

A rapid, selective method that utilize 4-(2-Pyridylazo)-resorcinol (PAR)-modified nanometer SiO₂ (nanometer SiO₂–PAR) as a new solid-phase extractant for preconcentration of trace mercury (II) has been developed. The adsorption property of nanometer SiO₂–PAR for metal ions was studied by selectively extracting different metal ions from aqueous solutions. The results revealed an excellent affinity of the nanometer SiO₂–PAR for mercury (II) in presence of interfering metal ions at pH 4. The main parameters of solid-phase extraction such as shaking time, elution and sample dilution effect were studied. The extractant shows rapid kinetic sorption, and the adsorption equilibrium of mercury (II) on nanometer SiO₂–PAR was achieved in less than 2 min. The adsorbed mercury (II) was easily eluted by 4 mL of 6 mol L⁻¹ HCl. The maximum preconcentration factor was 50. The maximum static adsorption capacity was 276 μmol g⁻¹ at pH 4. The detection limit (3σ) was 0.43 μg L⁻¹ for cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS), and the relative standard deviation of the eight replicate determinations was 2.4% for the determination of 2.0 μg of Hg(II) in 100 mL water sample. The method was applied to the determination of trace mercury (II) in sample solutions with satisfactory results.     

Electrooxidative coupling of salts of nitro compounds with halide,nitrite, cyanide,and phenylsulfinate anions

Electrolysis of salts of primary and secondary nitro compounds (nitroethane, 1- and 2-nitropropanes, nitrocyclohexane, and nitrocycloheptane) in the presence of excess halide, nitrite, cyanide, and phenylsulfinate anions under undivided and divided amperostatic electrolysis conditions in a two-phase medium (CH₂Cl₂/H₂O) produces geminal nitrohalides (35–85% yields), dinitro compounds (15–51%), nitronitriles (6–27%), and nitrosulfones (50–70%). The salts of secondary nitro compounds form the products of oxidative coupling with halide and phenylsulfinate anions under the undivided electrolysis conditions. Synthesis ofS-(+)-hydroprene

A novel path toS-(+)-hydroprene (1) starting from the technical gradeS-(+)-dihydromyrcene (2, e.e. 50%) is proposed. The latter was selectively transformed intoS-3,7-dimethyloctanal (5) in three steps including hydroalumination. The reactions of5 with allyl- or methallylmagnesium chloride followed, respectively, either by oxygenation in the presence of PdCl₂/CuCl or by ozonolysis, affordS,E-6,10-dimethyl-3-undecen-2-one (7) which was treated with ethoxyethynylmagnesium bromide to give the title juvenile hormone analogue in 23% overall yield.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Stereochemistry of ketone olefination with methyl trimethylsilylacetate

High (Z)-stereoselectivity of olefination of methyl α-phenylthioalkyl and methyl α-phenylthioalkenyl ketones with methyl trimethylsilylacetate decreases in the case of ketones containing a higher alkyl-substituent in place of the methyl group. SiO2包覆纳米CaCO3的透射电镜表征

在透射电子显微镜（TEM）电子衍射模式下，用适当孔径的物镜光阑选择非晶态SiO2的衍射区域，拍摄以溶胶一凝胶法制备的SiO2包覆纳米CaCO3的暗场像。与未经包覆SiO2的纳米CaCO3的暗场像作对比，可以看出经过SiO2包覆的纳米CaCO3粒子周围有一白色亮环，从而得到SiO3包覆层的暗场照片。用高分辨方法观察了包覆层与CaCO3粒子间的界面情况。     

Structure-activity study of antiepilepticN-aryl-isoxazolecarboxamides/N-isoxazolylbenzamide analogs using Wiener's topological index

The relationship between Wiener's topological index and the antiepileptic activity of a series ofN-aryl-isoxazole carboxamides/N-isoxazolylbenzamide analogs has been investigated. Values of Wiener's topological index for 69 compounds constituting the training set were computed and an active range was identified. Each analog was subsequently assigned an activity which was then compared with the reported antiepileptic activity against the maximal electroshock seizure (MES) test. Due to significant correlation between antiepileptic activity and Wiener's topological index, it was possible to predict antiepileptic activity with an accuracy of 91 % in the active range.
