Research on application of MOOC in optical packet switching

An experiment on receiving and identifying multiple optical orthogonal codes （MOOC） sequence-based optical labels in an optical packet switching （OPS） network is reported. Two groups of MOOC with a code length of 23 and a code weight of 3 are used to identify the optical labels. The scheme and principle of OPS networks based on MOOC sequence-based optical labels are presented. Because optical labels contain OPS and routing information, the importance of optical label processing with multiple inconsecutive, random, and burst optical labels in an OPS network is pointed out. Considering the MOOC-based optical labels, we design a circuit consisting of a broadened network and a cascaded amplifier to receive multiple groups of low-power narrow pulses （optical labels in the MOOC-OPS network） with a period of 2 ns. The successful experimental results demonstrate that the designed scheme is feasible.     

Focusing of Time Reversal Lamb Waves and Its Applications in Structural Health Monitoring

The focusing of time reversal acoustic fields for dispersive and multimodal Lamb waves is theoretically investigated and experimentally verified. It is demonstrated that the time reversal Lamb wave signal will reach the maximum amplitude when the observation point is located at the damage location. Based on the time reversal focusing theory, a damage imaging method is proposed for structural health monitoring using Lamb waves. The experiments employ a transducer network consisting of four piezoelectric transducers as actuators and as well sensors for excitation and measurement of Lamb waves. The results show that this method is able to accurately predict damage location and provides an estimation of the possible area even for damage close to one of the transducers or even slightly outside the transducer network.     

Rheological Behavior of Some Aqueous Gels of Carbopol with Pharmaceutical Applications

The concentration and temperature dependence of the viscosity is observed for some aqueous dispersions of Carbopol. The experimental data are analyzed with the power model, and reveal non-Newtonian behavior （shear thinning） of the samples.     

Design and Application of a Near Field Microwave Antenna for the Spin Control of Nitrogen-Vacancy Centers

Controlled manipulation of the electron spin by means of a microwave field is investigated. The near magnetic field generated by a copper wire antenna is measured experimentally and simulated theoretically, and the optimum antenna length and position are obtained. By measuring the change in the fluorescence of nitrogen-vacancy （N-V） centers in diamond after excitation with a 532 nm continuous wave laser at room temperature, it is verified that the spin of the N-V center can be effectively controlled by the microwave field.
