Local and global solutions of the Chern-Simons-Higgs system

We study low regularity solutions of the Chern-Simons-Higgs equations. The Lorentz gauge condition makes them hyperbolic equations with the null form. Under the Coulomb gauge condition they are formulated in the hyperbolic equation coupled with elliptic equation. The div-curl decomposition is used in the temporal gauge.     

Weak and Strong Solutions for the Stokes Approximation of Non-homogeneous Incompressible Navier-Stokes Equations

In this paper,the Dirichlet problem of Stokes approximate of non-homogeneous incompressibleNavier-Stokes equations is studied.It is shown that there exist global weak solutions as well as global andunique strong solution for this problem,under the assumption that initial density ρ_0(x)is bounded away from0 and other appropriate assumptions(see Theorem 1 and Theorem 2).The semi-Galerkin method is applied toconstruct the approximate solutions and a prior estimates are made to elaborate upon the compactness of theapproximate solutions.     

The practice for eight-year operation of the cobalt-60 irradiation facility at Beijing Radiation Application Research Center

The radiation facility was made by Sulzer Company in Switzerland. The designed capacity is 3.7 × 10¹⁶Bq( 1MCi) and 12.21 × 10¹⁵Bq(330kCi)of Cobalt -60 source was loaded at the first phase. Current cobalt -60 source-loading is 2.4 × 10¹⁶Bq(650kCi). The equipment assembling and installation regulating and testing were completed at the end of 1988. The facility was put into commissioning in 1989. It operates 7000–8000 hours per year. The facility has been utilized to carry out many research work and irradiate many kinds of items. Lots of economical benefits have been gained since then. Now it is becoming a radiation processing model base in China. This paper summarized the strong and weak points of the design of the facility through in eight years' practice and analysed the economical benefits.     

Optimality for set functions with values in ordered vector spaces

Let (X, , ) be a finite atomless measure space,L a convex subfamily of , andY andZ locally convex Hausdorff topological vector spaces which are ordered by the conesC andD, respectively. LetF:LY beC-convex andG:LZ beD-convex set functions. Consider the following optimization problem (P): minimizeF(), subject to L andG() _D . The paper generalizes the Moreau-Rockafellar theorem with set functions. By applying this theorem, a Kuhn-Tucker type optimality condition and a Fritz John type optimality condition for problem (P) are established. Recursive solution of linear-quadratic Nash games for weakly interconnected systems

A recursive method is developed for the solution of coupled algebraic Riccati equations and corresponding linear Nash strategies of weakly interconnected systems. It is shown that the given algorithm converges to the exact solution with the rate of convergence ofO(²), where is a small coupling parameter. In addition, only low-order systems are involved in algebrdic computations; the amount of computations required does not grow per iteration and no analyticity assumption is imposed on the system coefficients.This work was supported by Rutgers University Research Council under Grant No. 2-02188.     

The upper and lower second order directional derivatives of a sup-type function

The purpose of this paper is to give a formula for expressing the second order directional derivatives of the sup-type functionS(x) = sup{f(x, t); t T} in terms of the first and second derivatives off(x, t), whereT is a compact set in a metric space and we assume thatf, f/x and ² f/x ² are continuous on ⁿ × T. We will give a geometrical meaning of the formula. We will moreover give a sufficient condition forS(x) to be directionally twice differentiable.

三硼酸锂晶体的生长形态

用自由生长系统研究了三硼酸锂ＬｉＢ_３Ｏ_５（ＬＢＯ）晶体的实际生长形态。实验表明，它的各晶面簇的重要性的顺序为：｛１１０｝＞｛０１１｝＞｛２０１｝＞｛１１１｝。讨论了ＬＢＯ晶体的生长习性与内部结构之间的关系并应用负离子配位多面体理论模型解释了ＬＢＯ晶体的生长形态。     

Synthesis and structure of anhydrodimers of salicylaldehydes

Anhydrodimers have been synthesized by reactions of salicylaldehyde and 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde with SOCl₂ or PCl₅. A mechanism of condensation has been proposed, and the molecular structure of dibenzo-2,6,9-trioxabicyclo[3.3.1]nona-3,7-diene has been determined by X-ray structural analysis.Deceased.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk.
