A note on the diffraction of an obliquely incident surface wave by a partially immersed fixed vertical barrier

The problem of the diffraction of surface waves, obliquely incident on a partially immersed fixed vertical barrier in deep water, is solved approximately by reducing it to the solution of an integral equation, for small angle of incidence of the incident wave. The corrections to the reflection and transmission coefficients over their normal incidence values for small angle of incidence are obtained and presented graphically for some intermediate values of wave numbers.     

Direct Shocks in a Vibrationally Nonequilibrium Gas

Direct shocks in flows of a high-temperature diatomic gas with rotational and vibrational degrees of freedom are considered. Gas-dynamic parameters and populations of molecular vibrational levels behind a shock are studied for the case of disturbance of vibrational equilibrium in an incident flow.     

Axisymmetric impingement of a hot jet on a flat plate: equilibrium flow analysis of high-temperature air

The flow structure of an underexpanded supersonic jet with high reservoir temperature impinging on a flat plate has been numerically investigated using a Total Variation Diminishing (TVD) scheme. When the temperature of the flow field is high enough to cause chemical reaction, the specific heat ratio,, is no longer equal to 1.4, nor constant. This explains the difference found in the literature between the flow properties of the calorically perfect gas and that of the chemically reacting flow. Under the equilibrium flow assumption the effect of high temperature gas on the impinging jet has been taken into account in the present paper by using specific heat ratio and speed of sound given by correlation polynomials of thermodynamic variables. The limiting case of cold jet calculation in the present numerical results agreed well with the existing experimental data. For the equilibrium jet with high reservoir temperature,T _o=1000K, qualitative support of the present result has been provided by means of the approximation theory.This article was processed using Springer-Verlag T_EX Shock Waves macro package 1.0 and the AMS fonts, developed by the American Mathematical Society.     

有限厚度砂床对波浪载荷的响应

本文采用水-土两相介质混合物的连续介质力学理论分析了有限厚度砂床对波浪载荷的响应。土床看作饱和孔隙弹性介质,用Biot理论来描述流动和变形的耦合效应,波浪用线性水波描述。在上述假设下得到了描述土床对波浪载荷响应的基本方程。用解沂-数值方法给出了土床中位移、应力和孔隙水压力的分布并将理沦计算结果与波浪-砂床模型试验的实验资料进行了比较。文章还对影响土床对波浪响应的参量特性进行了分析和讨论。根据参量研究、理论计算与实验资料比较的结果,可以得出结论:本文所提供的理论模型和计算方法能用来估算海床对波浪载荷的影响。     

多孔介质中收聚圆锥冲击波的相互作用的实验研究

我们从实验上研究了铝粉、铁粉和钨粉中收聚圆锥冲击波的相互作用,并导出了利用实验数据计算此波锥顶角的公式。     

A high-speed photographic study of the transition from deflagration to detonation wave

Experiments were conducted to investigate the DDT process of the oxyhydrogen gas in the rectangular detonation tube of 3 m long. The repeated obstacle was installed near the ignition plug and the effects of the obstacle on the DDT process were investigated. The behaviour of the combustion and detonation wave were visualized utilizing Imacon high-speed camera with the aid of Schlieren optics. As a result, DDT process was visualized, i.e. (i) multiple shock waves were induced by the expanding combustion wave, because the combustion flame played a role as a piston and compressed the unburned gases. (ii) The acceleration of the combustion wave was occurred and the distance between the shock wave and the combustion flame became shorter. (iii) Eventually, the local explosion was occurred and cause overdriven detonation wave to propagate at the velocity of about 3 kms⁻¹. An abridged version of this paper was presented at the 15th Int. 弹塑性梁在轴向应力波下的动态屈曲

本文考虑轴向应力波效应，利用分叉理论研究各种支承半无限长弹塑性梁的动态屈曲问题。在轴向阶梯载荷和脉冲载荷冲击下得到了梁的临界屈曲载荷及初始屈曲模态。其结果与实验现象相一致。同时也为研究结构动态屈曲问题提供了有效途径。     

Transformation of a breaking wave at a drop of a channel bottom

This paper gives results of an experimental study of incident and reflected waves of the bore type in the neighborhood of a sharp change in the channel bed level. Nonlinear Stability of a One-Dimensional Boussinesq Equation

We study nonlinear orbital stability and instability of the set of ground state solitary wave solutions of a one-dimensional Boussinesq equation or one-dimensional Benney–Luke equation. It is shown that a solitary wave (traveling wave with finite energy) may be orbitally stable or unstable depending on the range of the wave's speed of propagation.     

Symmetry classification and optimal systems of a non-linear wave equation

In this paper the complete Lie group classification of a non-linear wave equation is obtained. Optimal systems and reduced equations are achieved in the case of a hyperelastic homogeneous bar with variable cross section.
