A new model is proposed to explain coiling of myelins composed of fluid bilayers. This model allows the constituent bilayer
cylinders of a myelin to be non-coaxial and the bilayer lateral tension to vary from bilayer to bilayer. The calculations
show that a myelin would bend or coil to lower its free energy when the bilayer lateral tension is sufficiently large. From
a mechanical point of view, the proposed coiling mechanism is analogous to the classical Euler buckling of a thin elastic
rod under axial compression. The analysis of a simple two-bilayer case suggests that a bilayer lateral tension of about 1
dyne/cm can easily induce coiling of myelins of typical lipid bilayers. This model signifies the importance of bilayer lateral

In the literature, there are numerous studies of one-dimensional discrete-time quantum walks (DTQWs) using a moving shift operator. However, there is no exact solution for the limiting probability distributions of DTQWs on cycles using a general coin or swapping shift operator. In this paper, we derive exact solutions for the limiting probability distribution of quantum walks using a general coin and swapping shift operator on cycles for the first time. Based on the exact solutions, we show how to generate symmetric quantum walks and determine the condition under which a symmetric quantum walk appears. Our results suggest that choosing various coin and initial state parameters can achieve a symmetric quantum walk. By defining a quantity to measure the variation of symmetry, deviation and mixing time of symmetric quantum walks are also investigated. 相似文献

more general ansatz and the symbolic computation system Maple, we extend the Riccati equation rational expansion method [Chaos, Solitons & Fractals

uniformly construct a series of stochastic nontravelling wave
solutions for nonlinear stochastic evolution equation. To illustrate
the effectiveness of our method, we take the stochastic mKdV
equation as an example, and successfully construct some new and more

We construct perfect fluid metrics with two symmetries by means of a recently developed geometrical method [1]. The Einstein equations are reduced to a single equation for a conformal factor. Under additional assumptions we obtain new cosmological solutions of Bianchi type II, VI0 and VII0. The symmetry reduction method based on the Fréchet derivative of differential operators is applied to investigate symmetries of the Einstein-Maxwell field equations for magnetostatic fields, which is a coupled system of nonlinear partial differential equations of the second order. Large single crystals of La2−xSrxCuO4 (LSCO) high-Tc superconductors were grown by the infrared heating floating zone (IR-FZ) method using a tilting-mirror-type image furnace. The maximum diameter of the LSCO crystals increased to 10 mm in the tilting-mirror-type image furnace from 6 mm in the conventional image furnace. CuO rich feeds were required for the crystal growth using the tilting-mirror-type image furnace to compensate for the lack of CuO caused by the significant evaporation of CuO during the growth. The evaporation of CuO was affected by the tilting angle of the mirrors of the image furnace and by feed diameter. The optimized growth conditions were as follows: mirror tilting angle, 20°; feed diameter, 10 mm∅; and feed composition 50.7 mol% CuO. 相似文献

We consider the linear equation of state for matter distributions that may be applied to strange stars with quark matter.
In our general approach the compact relativistic body allows for anisotropic pressures in the presence of the electromagnetic
field. New exact solutions are found to the Einstein-Maxwell system. A particular case is shown to be regular at the stellar
centre. In the isotropic limit we regain the general relativistic isothermal Universe. We show that the mass corresponds to
the values obtained previously for quark stars when anisotropy and charge are present.
