We solve the general problem of mixing of electromagnetic and scalar or pseudoscalar fields coupled by axion-type interactions L int = g ϕ ϕε μναβ F μν F αβ . The problem depends on several dimensionful scales, including the magnitude and direction of background magnetic field, the pseudoscalar mass, plasma frequency, propagation frequency, wave number, and finally the pseudoscalar coupling. We apply the results to the first consistent calculations of the mixing of light propagating in a background magnetic field of varying directions, which show a great variety of fascinating resonant and polarization effects.   相似文献

Travelling wave-like solutions of the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation with variable coefficients are studied using the solutions of Raccati equation. The solitary wave-like solution, the trigonometric periodic wave solution and the rational wave solution are obtained with a constraint between coefficients. The property of the solutions is numerically investigated. It is shown that the coefficients of the equation do not change the wave amplitude, but may change the wave velocity.   相似文献

The radial wave functions of inner electron shell and outer electron shell of a Ne atom were obtained by the approximate analytical method and tested by calculating the ground state energy of the Ne atom. The equivalent volume of electron cloud and the refractive index of Ne were calculated. The calculated refractive index agrees well with the experimental result. Relationship between the refractive index and the wave function of Ne was discovered. The effect of weakly coupled hot plasma environment on the oscillator strengths of the ultraviolet and visible series and the polarizabilities of helium has been investigated using variational highly correlated wave functions within the non-relativistic framework. The Debye shielding approach that admits a variety of plasma conditions is used to simulate the plasma effects. For each shielding parameter, dipole oscillator strengths are calculated for the 1 1S-n1P (n=2, 3), 2 1S-2 1P, 2 3S-n3P (n=2, 3) and 2 1,3P-n1,3D (n=3, 4) transitions. The dipole and quadrupole polarizabilities for the ground He (1s21S) state are also reported for each screening parameter. Results obtained are useful in plasma diagnostic purposes besides several other applications.  相似文献

The simultaneous interaction of three fundamental fields is illustrated in Einstein Cartan Evans (ECE) theory with reference to the effect of gravitation on the inverse Faraday effect. The three-field interaction in this case is that of the fermionic, electromagnetic and gravitational fields. The interaction of the first two is developed in a well-defined semi-classical approximation of the ECE wave equation and the effect of gravitation incorporated through the index reduced canonical energy momentum density T. The exercise is repeated using the ECE wave equations and a general rule developed for the effect of gravitation on the fermionic, electromagnetic weak and strong fields.  相似文献

We find that the simple coupling of network growth to the position of a random walker on the network generates a traveling wave in the probability distribution of nodes visited by the walker. We argue that the entropy of this probability distribution is bounded as the network size tends to infinity. This means that the growth of a space coupled to a random walker situated in it constrains its dynamics to a set of typical random walker trajectories, and walker trajectories inside the growing space are compressible.  相似文献

In this paper, we study one-dimensional linear degenerate wave equations with a distributed controller. We establish observability inequalities for degenerate wave equation by multiplier method. We also deduce the exact controllability for degenerate wave equation by Hilbert uniqueness method when the control acts on the nondegenerate boundary. This paper reports on the numerical investigations of Taylor-Couette flow of radius ratio η = 0.25–0.6 performed at low Reynolds numbers Re = 100–200. The inner cylinder and the bottom end-wall rotate, while the outer cylinder and the top end-wall are held fixed. A fully 3D DNS code based on the spectral Chebyshev – Fourier approximation is used. This study is complementary to those of Mullin and Blohm (Phys. of Fluids 2001, vol 13, 136–140) and Lopez et al. (J. Fluid Mech. 2004, vol 501, 327–354) where investigations have been performed for radius ratio 0.5. The 1-cell and 3-cell structures found by these authors are shown to exist for a wide range of radius ratios, and the transition processes between them are qualitatively similar. These structures show hysteresis, disappearing at saddle-node bifurcations which connect at a cusp point in the (Re, Γ) plane. This cusp exists for the entire range of 0.1 < η < 0.75, and it traces out a parabolic curve in the (Re, Γ) plane, reaching a minimum Re at η = 0.375. The detailed 3D DNS computations provide a lot of new information about such phenomena as the modulated rotating wave, the period doubling cascade and homoclinic collision. The results show that the period doubling bifurcation is important in the flow when the radius ratio is close to η = 0.375.  相似文献
