Detecting dark energy in long baseline neutrino oscillations

In this paper, we discuss a possibility of studying properties of dark energy in long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments. We consider two types of models of neutrino dark energy. For one type of models the scalar field is taken to be quintessence-like and for the other phantom-like. In these models the scalar fields couple to the neutrinos to give rise to spatially varying neutrino masses. We will show that the two types of models predict different behaviors of the spatial variation of the neutrino masses inside the Earth and consequently result in different signals in long baseline neutrino oscillation experiments.     

FRACTIONAL INTEGRALS OF THE WEIERSTRASS FUNCTIONS： THE EXACT BOX DIMENSION

The present paper investigates the fractal structure of fractional integrals of Weierstrass functions. The ezact box dimension for such functions many important cases is established. We need to point out that, although the result itself achieved in the present paper is interesting, the new technique and method should be emphasized. These novel ideas might be useful to establish the box dimension or Hausdorff dimension (especially for the lower bounds) for more general groups of functions.

Departures inGR^{X{n}} /G_n /\infty

Departure processes in infinite server queues with non-Poisson arrivals have not received much attention in the past. In this paper, we try to fill this gap by considering the continuous time departure process in a general infinite server system with a Markov renewal batch arrival process ofM different types of customers. By a conditional approach, analytical results are obtained for the generating functions and binomial moments of the departure process. Special cases are discussed, showing that while Poisson arrival processes generate Poisson departures, departure processes are much more complicated with non-Poisson arrivals.This research has been supported in part by the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (Grant A5639).     

A review of autovalidation software in laboratory medicine

Although autovalidation procedures have been around for many years, through the use of computers and the application of (medical) protocols, they are now becoming part of the production environment of medical laboratories. The introduction of high volume instruments within routine medical laboratory testing certainly speeded up their application as well. After defining autovalidation, autoverification and autoconfirmation, this paper provides a framework for the different ways and places where these tools can be applied within laboratory medicine. Technology as well as organization are essential building blocks to reach well-defined, transparent and assured quality. A laboratory automation system (LAS) brings both areas together in a logical, future-oriented way. Strengthening the information loop, reaching guaranteed quality (analytical, turnaround times and efficiency), leads towards strict management of the laboratory processes. This includes all laboratory processes and here autovalidation and autoreporting become essential. A survey of currently available software routines and their appraisal from a managerial viewpoint are given. It can be concluded that autovalidation software in laboratory medicine is maturing and is rapidly becoming a critical success factor in any medical laboratory. Quality can be automated for sure and autovalidation software will prove to be a valuable aid to do so. Existence and Multiplicity Results for the p-Laplacian with a p-Gradient Term

We study the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions to p-Laplace equations where the nonlinear term depends on a p-power of the gradient. For this purpose we combine Picone’s identity, blow-up arguments, the strong maximum principle and Liouville-type theorems to obtain a priori estimates. 潜射鱼雷命中结果的解析计算方法

为了实现解析计算潜射鱼雷命中结果的目的,采用几何分析法,依据潜射鱼雷弹道过程,建立了鱼雷射击通式,通过分析目标运动要素(航向、速度和距离)与鱼雷命中结果之间的解析关系,建立了鱼雷命中结果的解析计算模型.在此基础上,进一步分析了目标运动要素误差对鱼雷不同制导方式下射击效果的影响.通过实例说明了计算方法的可行性和有效性.
