Stress and heat flux stabilization for viscous compressible medium equations with a nonmonotone state function

We study a system of quasilinear equations describing one-dimensional flow of a viscous compressible heat-conducting medium with a nonmonotone state function and mass force. The large-time behavior of solutions is considered for arbitrarily large initial data. In spite of possible nonuniqueness and discontinuity of the stationary solution, we prove L²-stabilization for the stress and heat flux as t → ∞ along with corresponding global energy estimates for them. The new method of proof utilizes a combination of energy type equalities for the stress and heat flux. Consequently, H¹-stabilization of the velocity and temperature along with global estimates for their derivatives are valid as well.     

Radiation Transfer in a Binary, Stochastic Medium with Strongly Fluctuating Parameters

The propagation of radiation in a three-dimensional, inhomogeneous, stochastic, scattering medium and in an equivalent homogeneous medium has been investigated by the small-angle iteration method. The statistical structure of the scattering parameters of a three-dimensional medium has been described within the framework of the two-dimensional Poisson process and the binary Markov process. The analytical data obtained point to the fact that the three-dimensional inhomogeneity of a stochastic medium significantly influences the radiation transfer in it.     

Green chemical synthesis of fluorinated 1,3,5-triaryl-s-triazines in aqueous medium under microwaves as potential antifungal agents

Reasonable pure fluorinated s-triazines were synthesized in quantitative yield (96-99%) in 2-3 min in aqueous medium under microwaves, by reaction of fluorinated anilines and aqueous formaldehyde. All synthesized compounds have been screened in vitro for their antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium oxysporum, and Collectotrichum capsici.     

Pattern forming precipitation in gels due to coupling of chemical reactions with diffusion

Precipitate-forming chemical reactions have been studied in chemically cross-linked poly(vinyl alcohol) gel medium. One of the reactive components was incorporated into the gel, the other was allowed to diffuse into it. Depending on the experimental conditions the reaction-diffusion process often results in patterns of different type. Experiments performed in tubes and in thin layers were carried out in order to investigate the effects of various factors (cross-linking density, swelling degree as well as the concentrations of the outer and inner electrolytes) on the morphologies of the precipitate patterns. It was found that precipitation occurs not only in the Liesegang bands, but also between bands. Beside Liesegang-type structures, tree-like patterns have been observed, showing a characteristic periodicity in the density profile obtained by digitalized image analyses.     

KrVI离子能级和振子强度的理论计算

利用组态相互作用理论和参数外推法,计算了KrVI离子4s~24p—4s4p~2、4s~24p—4s~24d和4s4p~2—4p~3跃迁的能级、谱线波长和振子强度。与已有实验结果比较表明:波长的理论计算值与观测值在0.7A内很好符合,振子强度的理论计算值较大的跃迁均是实验中观测到的跃迁。     

Interactions between kinetic and radiative processes inside moving absorbing fluids

The aim of this paper is to present several features of the couplings occurring between radiative transfer and the kinetics of a moving dielectric. After determining how the velocity field affects the apparent thermo-optical properties of matter, the energy transport problem is investigated in instationary regime and the general form of transient radiative transfer equation inside a moving medium is built. Then, the model is applied to the particular case of turbulent flows: a system of two equations for mean and fluctuating radiative energies is presented, and the resolution of this system is finally carried out.     

一种非刚性医学图像点匹配方法

提出了一种非刚性点匹配的算法并把其运用于医学图像配准．该算法采用信号滤波的方法来获得点集间的匹配信息，并运用松弛标记法将各点邻域关系对模糊的匹配信息进行迭代获得明确的匹配关系．在此基础上，利用高斯径向基函数来描述点模式间的弹性形变，在基本的迭代框架下实现问题的求解．实验结果显示在形变程度为5％、出格点比率50％和噪声标准差为5％的情况下该算法的匹配误差能控制在0．13以下，表明了该算法的鲁棒性和有效性，较好地解决了医学非刚性形变的点匹配问题．     

Evaluation of piezoelectric PVDF polymers for use in space environments. III. Comparison of the effects of vacuum UV and gamma radiation

Films of piezoelectric PVDF and P(VDF‐TrFE) were exposed to vacuum UV (115–300 nm VUV) and γ‐radiation to investigate how these two forms of radiation affect the chemical, morphological, and piezoelectric properties of the polymers. The extent of crosslinking was almost identical in both polymers after γ‐irradiation, but surprisingly, was significantly higher for the TrFE copolymer after VUV‐irradiation. Changes in the melting behavior were also more significant in the TrFE copolymer after VUV‐irradiation due to both surface and bulk crosslinking, compared with only surface crosslinking for the PVDF films. The piezoelectric properties (measured using d₃₃ piezoelectric coefficients and D‐E hysteresis loops) were unchanged in the PVDF homopolymer, while the TrFE copolymer exhibited more narrow D‐E loops after exposure to either γ‐ or VUV‐radiation. The more severe damage to the TrFE copolymer in comparison with the PVDF homopolymer after VUV‐irradiation is explained by different energy deposition characteristics. The short wavelength, highly energetic photons are undoubtedly absorbed in the surface layers of both polymers, and we propose that while the longer wavelength components of the VUV‐radiation are absorbed by the bulk of the TrFE copolymer causing crosslinking, they are transmitted harmlessly in the PVDF homopolymer. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
