Direct simulations of macromolecular fluids are carried out for flows between parallel plates and in expanding and contracting channels. The macromolecules are modeled as FENE dumbbells with soft disks or Lennard-Jones dumbbell-dumbbell interactions. The results are presented in terms of profiles and contour plots of velocity, pressure, temperature, density, and flow fields. In addition the data for potential energy, shear stress, and the normal components of the stress tensor are collected. In general, an excellent agreement is found between the simulated profiles and the well-known flow structures, such as flow separation and formation of viscous eddies, indicating that micro-hydrodynamics is a viable tool in linking macroscopic phenomena with the underlying physical mechanisms. The simulations are performed in the Newtonian regime, for medium-size systems comprising up to 3888 dumbbells. This number is sufficiently large to control boundary and particle number effects. The flow is induced by gravity. The traditional stochastic (thermal) and periodic boundary conditions are employed. Also, diffusive boundary conditions, which could include a stagnant fluid layer and repulsive potential walls, are developed. The scaling problems, which are related to the application of a large external force in a microscopic system (of the size of the order 100 Å), result in extreme pressure and temperature gradients. In addition, the viscosity and thermal conductivity coefficients obtained from velocity and temperature profiles of the channel flow are presented. These results are confirmed independently from modeling of Couette flow by the SLLOD equations of motion and from the Evans algorithm for thermal conductivity.  相似文献

Atenolol and propranolol (the β-blocking agents) and salbutamol (broncho- and vasodilator) were resolved into their enantiomers by adopting different modes of loading/impregnating the Cu(II) complexes of l-proline (l-Pro), l-phenylalanine (l-Phe), l-histidine (l-His), N,N-dimethyl-l-phenylalanine (N,N-Me2-l-Phe), and l-tryptophan (l-Trp) on commercial precoated normal phase plates. The three different approaches were (A) using the Cu(II)-l-amino acid complex as chiral mobile phase additive, (B) ascending development of plain commercial plates in the solutions of Cu complex, and (C) using a solution of Cu(II) acetate as mobile phase additive for the commercial TLC plates impregnated with ascending development of plates in the solutions of amino acid. Spots were located using iodine vapour. The results obtained for the three methods have been compared for their efficiency and the issue of involvement of the Cu(II) cation for the best performance of the three methods has been discussed with respect to the same mobile phase. The detection limit is 0.18 μg for each enantiomer.  相似文献

A primary flexure problem defined by Kirchhoff theory of plates in bending is considered. Significance of auxiliary function introduced earlier in the in-plane displacements in resolving Poisson-Kirchhoff's boundary conditions paradox is reexamined with reference to reported sixth order shear deformation theories, in particular, Reissner's theory and Hencky's theory. Sixth order modified Kirchhoff's theory is extended here to include shear deformations in the analysis.  相似文献

Previous detailed studies of the interaction of a shock wave with a perforated sheet considered the impact of a shock wave on a plate with regularly spaced slits giving area blockages of 60 and 67%, at various angles of incidence, and resulting in both regular and Mach reflection. The current work extends this study to a much wider variety of plate geometries. Blockage ratios of 20, 25, 33, 50, and 67 and inclinations of 45, 60, 75, and 90° to the shock wave were tested. Four different thicknesses of plate were tested at the same frontal blockage in order to assess the effects of gap guidance. Tests were conducted at two shock Mach numbers of 1.36 and 1.51 (inverse pressure ratios of 0.4 and 0.5). It is found that secondary reflected and transmitted waves appear due to the complex interactions within the grid gaps, and that the vortex pattern which is generated under the plate is also complex due to these interactions. The angle of the reflected shock, measured relative to the plate, decreases with plate blockage and the angle of inflow to the plate reduces with increasing blockage. By analysing the flow on the underside of the plate the pseudo-steady flow assumption is found to be a reasonable approximation. Both the pressure difference and the stagnation pressure loss across the plate are evaluated. It is found that over the range tested the plate thickness has a minimal effect.  相似文献

The plane stress boundary value problem of quasi-static linear orthotropic thermoelasticity is discussed. The thermoelastic system on a bounded simply-connected domain is decoupled. The decoupled temperature equation is investigated by using accurate estimation and the contraction mapping principle. Representations of solutions of the field equation are obtained, and some solvability results are proved. The results are of both theoretical and numerical interest.  相似文献

We prove the local existence and uniqueness to a geometrically exact, observer‐invariant membrane‐plate model introduced by the author. The model consists of an elliptic partial differential system of equations describing the equilibrium response of the membrane which is non‐linearly coupled with a viscoelastic evolution equation for exact rotations, taking on the role of an orthonormal triad of directors. This coupling introduces a viscoelastic transverse shear resistance. Refined elliptic regularity results together with a new extended Korn's first inequality for plates and shells allow to proceed by a fixed point argument in appropriately chosen Sobolev‐spaces in order to prove existence and uniqueness.
