We consider the nonlinear extension of the Kuramoto model of globally coupled phase oscillators where the phase shift in the coupling function depends on the order parameter. A bifurcation analysis of the transition from fully synchronous state to partial synchrony is performed. We demonstrate that for small ensembles it is typically mediated by stable cluster states, that disappear with creation of heteroclinic cycles, while for a larger number of oscillators a direct transition from full synchrony to a periodic or a quasiperiodic regime occurs.  相似文献

The ground-state and finite-temperature behavior of the mixed spin-1 and spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model on the diamond-like decorated Bethe lattice is investigated within the framework of two rigorous methods: the decoration-iteration transformation and exact recursion relations. The model under consideration describes a hybrid classical-quantum system consisting of the Ising and Heisenberg spins, which interact among themselves either through the Ising or XXZ Heisenberg nearest-neighbor interaction. Both sublattice magnetizations of the Ising and Heisenberg spins are exactly calculated with the aim to examine phase diagrams, thermal variations of the total and sublattice magnetizations. The finite-temperature phase diagrams form continuous (second-order) phase transition lines only, which exhibit a small reentrant region if the diamond-like decorated Bethe lattice with a sufficiently high coordination number is considered.  相似文献

In this paper, results of applying a non-uniform magnetic field on a ferrofluid (kerosene and 4 vol% Fe3O4 ) flow in a vertical tube have been reported. The hydrodynamics and thermal behavior of the flow are investigated numerically using the two phase mixture model and the control volume technique. Two positive and negative magnetic field gradients have been examined. Based on the obtained results the Nusselt number can be controlled externally using the magnetic field with different intensity and gradients. It is concluded that the magnetic field with negative gradient acts similar to Buoyancy force and augments the Nusselt number, while the magnetic field with positive gradient decreases it. Also with the negative gradient of the magnetic field, pumping power increases and vice versa for the positive gradient case.  相似文献

In the level schemes of sd shell nuclei, there is generally at relatively low excitation energies, coexistence of normal 0 positive parity states and of intruder 1 negative parity states. The aim of the present work is to describe these intruder states in the full p-sd-pf model space with a 4He core allowing one nucleon jump between the major shells. To construct our PSDPF interaction, we first modified the p-sd and sd-pf cross-monopole terms and then applied a fitting procedure to adjust all PSDPF parameters by comparing an extended set of experimental and calculated excitation energies. Results obtained with the new interaction have been finally compared with experimental data for nuclei throughout the sd shell.  相似文献

This paper presents and calibrates an individual’s stochastic health evolution model. In this health evolution model, the uncertainty of health incidents is described by a stochastic process with a finite number of possible outcomes. We construct a comprehensive health status index (HSI) to describe an individual’s health status, as well as a health risk factor system (RFS) to classify individuals into different risk groups. Based on the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method and the method of nonlinear least squares fitting, model calibration is formulated in terms of two mixed-integer nonlinear optimization problems. Using the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) data, the model is calibrated for specific risk groups. Longitudinal data from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) is used to validate the calibrated model, which displays good validation properties. The end goal of this paper is to provide a model and methodology, whose output can serve as a crucial component of decision support for strategic planning of health related financing and risk management.  相似文献

A general one-fluid cavitation model is proposed for a family of Mie-Grüneisen equations of state (EOS), which can provide a wide application of cavitation flows, such as liquid-vapour transformation and underwater explosion. An approximate Riemann problem and its approximate solver for the general cavitation model are developed. The approximate solver, which provides the interface pressure and normal velocity by an iterative method, is applied in computing the numerical flux at the phase interface for our compressible multi-medium flow simulation on Eulerian grids. Several numerical examples, including Riemann problems and underwater explosion applications, are presented to validate the cavitation model and the corresponding approximate solver.  相似文献

In this paper, we deal with an SIRS reaction–diffusion epidemic model with saturation infection mechanism. Based on the uniform boundedness of the parabolic system, we investigate the extinction and persistence of the infectious disease in terms of the basic reproduction number. To better investigate the effects of infection mechanism and individual diffusion, we further analyze the asymptotic profiles of the endemic equilibrium for small or large motility rate and large saturation rate. In particular it is shown that large saturation may cause the elimination of disease. Our study may provide some significant useful insight on disease control and prevention.  相似文献
