We investigate the depinning of two-dlmensional fluids interacting with quenched disorder, based on Langevin simulations. For weak disorder the fluids depin elastically and flow in an ordered state. A power-law scaling fit between velocity and driving force can be obtained for the onset of motion in the elastic regime. This is in good agreement with that of colloid, charge density wave, and superconducting vortex systems. With an increasing strength of the disorder, we find a sharp crossover to plastic depinning, accompanied by a substantial increase in the depinning force. The scaling fit obtained in the elastic regime becomes invalid when plastic flow occurs. In the plastic regime, the fluids flow in channels and the hexatic order decays exponentially with drives.  相似文献

The addition of the additives to the lubricant oil to enhance the characteristics of the lubricant will influence the performance of the bearings. Based on the theory of micropolar fluids, the tribological characteristics of a dynamically-loaded journal bearing are numerically studied. Comparisons are made between the Newtonian fluids and the micropolar fluids. It is shown that for a dynamically-loaded journal bearing, the micropolar fluids yield an increase not only in the friction force, but also in the friction coefficient. In addition, the oil film pressure and the oil film thickness are obviously higher than that of Newtonian fluids.  相似文献

电流变液在电场作用下软硬连续可调的奇特性质具有广泛和重要的应用价值。传统电流变液是基于颗粒极化产生的相互作用,根据介电理论预测,其剪切屈服强度的上限约为10 kPa。电流变液被发明50年来,阻碍其应用的主要原因是剪切强度低。近年来发明的“极性分子型电流变液”是一类新型电流变液,其屈服强度比传统电流变液大一个数量级以上,且与电场强度呈线性关系,这一点和传统电流变液中的平方关系也明显不同。文章作者提出了极性分子在颗粒间强局域电场中的取向并与极化电荷作用的模型,成功地解释了观察到的实验现象。根据这一原理,有可能制备出屈服强度高达MPa的电流变液。  相似文献

Magnetic nanofluids, ferrofluids, are a special category of smart nanomaterials, consisting of stable dispersion of magnetic nanoparticles in different fluids. In this study, magnetic nanoparticles of hematite, α-Fe2O3, were prepared by solvothermal method using Fe(NO3)3 as a starting material. The nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electronic microscope (TEM).To the best of our knowledge, this is the first research on the rheological properties of nanofluids of α-Fe2O3 nanoparticles and glycerol. The experimental results showed that the viscosity of α-Fe2O3-glycerol nanofluids increases with increasing the particle volume fraction and decreases with increasing temperature. Our results clearly showed that the α-Fe2O3-glycerol nanofluids are non-Newtonian shear-thinning and their shear viscosity depends strongly on temperature. The experimental data were compared with some theoretical models. The measured values of the effective viscosity of nanofluids are underestimated by the theoretical models.  相似文献

We consider a superconducting material that exists in the liquid state, more precisely, in which the Meissner-Ochsenfeld effect persists in the liquid state. First, we investigate how the shape of such a hypothetical Meissner liquid will adapt to accomodate for an applied external field. In particular, we analyse the case of a droplet of Meissner fluid, and compute the elongation of the droplet and its quadrupole frequency as a function of the applied field. Next, the influence of an applied field on the flow of the liquid is studied for the case of a surface wave. We derive the dispersion relation for surface waves on an incompressible Meissner fluid. We discuss some candidate realizations of the Meissner fluids and for the case of a superconducting colloid discuss which regime of wave lengths would be most affected by the Meissner effect.  相似文献

通过把负磁导率材料SRR阵列置于高性能电流变液中,研究了电极加载方式、电流变液浓度、电流变液类型以及电场强度等因素对浸入电流变液中的SRR阵列谐振频率的影响. 实验表明,电极加载方式对SRR阵列的磁响应有重要的影响;在容器盒中充满电流变液之后SRR阵列的谐振频率往低频发生了移动,并且可以通过改变外加电场强度来调节,最大的调节范围为130MHz. 数值计算结果表明SRR阵列的有效磁导率在谐振频率附近为负值,并且有效磁导率为负的频率范围也可以通过改变外加电场强度来调节. 关键词: 负磁导率材料 谐振频率 电流变液  相似文献

We show that the ideal relativistic spinning gas at complete thermodynamical equilibrium is a fluid with a non-vanishing spin density tensor σμν. After having obtained the expression of the local spin-dependent phase-space density f(x, p)στ in the Boltzmann approximation, we derive the spin density tensor and show that it is proportional to the acceleration tensor Ωμν constructed with the Frenet-Serret tetrad. We recover the proper generalization of the fundamental thermodynamical relation, involving an additional term −(1/2)Ωμνσμν. We also show that the spin density tensor has a non-vanishing projection onto the four-velocity field, i.e. tμ = σμνuν ≠ 0, in contrast to the common assumption tμ = 0, known as Frenkel condition, in the thus-far proposed theories of relativistic fluids with spin. We briefly address the viewpoint of the accelerated observer and inertial spin effects.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A three-component model on the structure of colloidal solution with size asymmetric electrolytes is attempted here using density functional theory and Monte Carlo simulation. The solvent is represented as an individual component along with that as a dielectric continuum. The theory uses a weighted density approximation for the hard-sphere contribution to the free energy, whereas the ionic contribution is evaluated through a perturbation expansion around the bulk density. The theory is found to reproduce the simulation data quite well for a wide range of parametric conditions. The present study reflects the importance of the presence of the solvent in determining the structural behaviour of spherical double layers.  相似文献

We discuss the kinetic representation of gases and the derivation of macroscopic equations governing the thermomechanical behavior of a dilute gas viewed at the macroscopic level as a continuous medium. We introduce an approach to kinetic theory where spatial distributions of the molecules are incorporated through a mean-free-volume argument. The new kinetic equation derived contains an extra term involving the evolution of this volume, which we attribute to changes in the thermodynamic properties of the medium. Our kinetic equation leads to a macroscopic set of continuum equations in which the gradients of thermodynamic properties, in particular density gradients, impact on diffusive fluxes. New transport terms bearing both convective and diffusive natures arise and are interpreted as purely macroscopic expansion or compression. Our new model is useful for describing gas flows that display non-local-thermodynamic-equilibrium (rarefied gas flows), flows with relatively large variations of macroscopic properties, and/or highly compressible fluid flows.  相似文献
