Empirical likelihood for median regression model with designed censoring variables

We propose a new and simple estimating equation for the parameters in median regression models with designed censoring variables, and then apply the empirical log likelihood ratio statistic to construct confidence region for the parameters. The empirical log likelihood ratio statistic is shown to have a standard chi-square distribution, which makes this method easy to implement. At the same time, another empirical log likelihood ratio statistic is proposed based on an existing estimating equation and the limiting distribution of the empirical likelihood ratio statistic is shown to be a sum of weighted chi-square distributions. We compare the performance of the empirical likelihood confidence region based on the new estimating equation, with that based on the existing estimating equation and a normal approximation method by simulation studies.     

Phase segregation of metastable quenched liquid mixtures and the effect of the quenching rate

The effect of the quenching rate on the phase separation of partially miscible liquid mixtures is studied, showing that it may influence the growth rate of single-phase domains. In particular, the phase separation of metastable binary mixtures in the presence of strong emulsifiers appears to be heavily retarded. These effects constitute an important limitation to the phase transition extraction process introduced by the authors in previous works, which is based on the fact that phase separation of unstable mixtures is rapid, even in the presence of surface active compounds.     

Absolute control of helicity at the C-termini in quinoline oligoamide foldamers by chiral oxazolylaniline moieties

Absolute one-handed chiral quinoline tetramers andoctamers containing different oxazolylanilines at the C-terminus have been synthesized.The absolute one-handed sense and diastereomeric excess values were valued by^1H NMR.X-ray crystal diffractionand CD studies reveal that the S-oxazolylaniline always induces a P-handed helicity and the absolute helicity is driven by the stable three-center hydrogen bonding between protons in the amide and N atoms in oxazolylaniline and adjacent quinoline ring.CPL investigations demonstrated that S-CQn-a-d are CPL active and its g(lum)values are dependent on its length.Interestingly,the sizes of the substituents in the chiral centers are different,howeve r,they exert no effect on the dissymmetric factors g(abs)and g(lum)of quinoline oligoamide foldamers.

介绍了 “神龙一号”直线感应加速器物理设计的主要考虑。“神龙一号”加速器是一台电子直线感应加速器,由3.6MeV感应迭加型注入器、72个感应加速腔、脉冲功率系统、束流输运和聚焦系统、控制系统和真空、绝缘油、绝缘气体以及去离子水系统组成。能产生20MeV、束流大于2.5kA,脉冲宽度为60ns的强流脉冲电子束,X光焦斑均方根直径为1.5mm。     

Clustering Rules: A Comparison of Partitioning and Hierarchical Clustering Algorithms

Previous research has resulted in a number of different algorithms for rule discovery. Two approaches discussed here, the ‘all-rules’ algorithm and multi-objective metaheuristics, both result in the production of a large number of partial classification rules, or ‘nuggets’, for describing different subsets of the records in the class of interest. This paper describes the application of a number of different clustering algorithms to these rules, in order to identify similar rules and to better understand the data.

Decay of correlations for the Rauzy-Veech-Zorich induction map on the space of interval exchange transformations and the central limit theorem for the Teichmüller flow on the moduli space of Abelian differentials

The aim of this paper is to prove a stretched-exponential bound for the decay of correlations for the Rauzy-Veech-Zorich induction map on the space of interval exchange transformations. A corollary is the Central Limit Theorem for the Teichmüller flow on the moduli space of abelian differentials with prescribed singularities.

     

Dynamic reflection and refraction of neutrons

Optical phenomena that arise in the interaction of a neutron wave with matter characterized by a variable magnetic-induction vector are considered. Since the interaction is time-dependent, the neutron energy is not conserved. Only the neutron velocity component, which is orthogonal to the matter boundary, changes. The changes in the neutron energy and in direction of propagation are closely related to the reversal of the neutron-spin projection. Possibilities of application of the thin slab with rotating magnetization are considered.     

Synthesis of polymeric antioxidants based on ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and their antioxidant ability for preventing polypropylene (PP) from thermal oxidation degradation

Norbornene derivatives 1-5 bearing hindered phenol groups were synthesized and undergone ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) with Grubbs 1st generation catalyst to prepare the corresponding polymeric antioxidants. After hydrogenation with p-toluenesulfonylhydrazide (TSH), polymeric antioxidants with saturated polymer chain were prepared. The resulting polymeric antioxidants were characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), ¹H NMR and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). As to polymerization activity, monomer 1 had the highest ROMP activity, while monomer 5 could not undergo homopolymerization due to the steric hindrance. The antioxidant ability of these polymeric antioxidants which was determined by oxidation induction temperature (OIT) in polypropylene (PP) system is to protect PP against thermal oxidation. Results showed that the OIT of PP increased obviously when PP was stabilized by the adding of polymeric antioxidants.
