This study developed generalized mathematical models to describe the motion of fluids in porous media, and applied these models to harmonic excitation applications. The problem of fluid flow in small channels of a periodic elastic solid matrix was studied at the pore scale, and the homogenization technique was applied to predict the macroscopic behavior of reservoirs. Based on the homogenization study, five separate characteristic macroscopic models were identified according to the relation between a length scale parameter and a property contrast number. These five models can be used to interpret the corresponding responses of a saturated porous medium. The relation to existing theories, such as Darcy's law, the Telegrapher's equation and Biot's theory, was investigated. The numerical results and applications are presented in Part II of the study.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic behaviour of highly oscillating functionals in finely perforated domains, when the periods of the oscillation and of the perforation may be at different scales. We highlight two types of regimes: in the first one we have separation of scales and the two process superimpose. In the second one the scales interact in a periodic or almost-periodic fashion; as a consequence we may not have a unique limit behaviour.  相似文献

Metamaterials are artificial materials structured on a subwavelength scale to provide electromagnetic properties beyond those available in nature. Progress in this young field has been startlingly swift. The last year alone has seen the realization of the first optical negative‐index metamaterials and the constructon of two very striking metamaterial‐based devices: an invisibility cloak and a far‐field lens capable of subwavelength imaging. A solution for the overall electromechanical response of two-phase dielectric elastomer composites with (random or periodic) particulate microstructures is derived in the classical limit of small deformations and moderate electric fields. In this limit, the overall electromechanical response is characterized by three effective tensors: a fourth-order tensor describing the elasticity of the material, a second-order tensor describing its permittivity, and a fourth-order tensor describing its electrostrictive response. Closed-form formulas are derived for these effective tensors directly in terms of the corresponding tensors describing the electromechanical response of the underlying matrix and the particles, and the one- and two-point correlation functions describing the microstructure. This is accomplished by specializing a new iterative homogenization theory in finite electroelastostatics (Lopez-Pamies, 2014) to the case of elastic dielectrics with even coupling between the mechanical and electric fields and, subsequently, carrying out the pertinent asymptotic analysis.Additionally, with the aim of gaining physical insight into the proposed solution and shedding light on recently reported experiments, specific results are examined and compared with an available analytical solution and with new full-field simulations for the special case of dielectric elastomers filled with isotropic distributions of spherical particles with various elastic dielectric properties, including stiff high-permittivity particles, liquid-like high-permittivity particles, and vacuous pores.  相似文献

In Gurson's footsteps, different authors have proposed macroscopic plastic models for porous solid with pressure-sensitive dilatant matrix obeying the normality law (associated materials). The main objective of the present paper is to extend this class of models to porous materials in the context of non-associated plasticity. This is the case of Drucker–Prager matrix for which the dilatancy angle is different from the friction one, and classical limit analysis theory cannot be applied. For such materials, the second last author has proposed a relevant modeling approach based on the concept of bipotential, a function of both dual variables, the plastic strain rate and stress tensors. On this ground, after recalling the basic elements of the Drucker–Prager model, we present the corresponding variational principles and the extended limit analysis theorems. Then, we formulate a new variational approach for the homogenization of porous materials with a non-associated matrix. This is implemented by considering the hollow sphere model with a non-associated Drucker–Prager matrix. The proposed procedure delivers a closed-form expression of the macroscopic bifunctional from which the criterion and a non-associated flow rule are readily obtained for the porous material. It is shown that these general results recover several available models as particular cases. Finally, the established results are assessed and validated by comparing their predictions to those obtained from finite element computations carried out on a cell representing the considered class of materials.  相似文献

For a two-phase immiscible flow through a heterogeneous porous medium in gravity field but with neglected capillary pressure, a macroscale model of first order is derived by a two-scale homogenization method while capturing the effect of fluid mixing. The mixing is manifested in the form of a nonlinear hydrodynamic dispersion and a transport velocity shift. The dispersion tensor is shown to be a nonlinear function of saturation. In the case offlow without gravity this function is proportional to the fractional flow derivative and depends on the viscosity ratio. For a flow which is one dimensional at the macroscale, the dispersion operator remains three dimensional and can be calculated in an analytical way. In the case of gravity induced flow, the longitudinal dispersion as the function of saturation is negative within some interval of saturation values. Numerical simulations of the microscale problemjustify the theoretical results of homogenization.  相似文献

The “second-order” homogenization procedure (J. Mech. Phys. Solids 50 (2002) 737) is used to compute estimates of the self-consistent type for the effective response of cubic and hexagonal viscoplastic polycrystals with isotropic textures. The method, which requires the computation of the averages of the stress field and the covariances of its fluctuations over the various grain orientations in an optimally selected “linear comparison polycrystal,” is also used to generate information on the heterogeneity of the stress and strain-rate fields within the polycrystals. In contrast with earlier estimates of the self-consistent type, such as those arising from the “incremental” and “tangent” schemes, the new estimates for the effective behavior are found to satisfy all known bounds, even in the strongly nonlinear, rate-insensitive limit. In addition, they are found to satisfy a recently proposed scaling law at large grain anisotropy. The fluctuations of the stresses and strain rates, which are nonzero for all grain orientations, are found to generally increase with decreasing strain-rate sensitivity (i.e., increasing nonlinearity) and with increasing grain anisotropy (which is typically higher for lower-symmetry systems).  相似文献

利用结构张量的概念建立了考虑松质骨结构各向异性的理想模型,将杆型与板型两种传统模型统一起来.采用均匀化理论,通过有限单元的数值计算建立了松质骨弹性常数与结构张量、固体体积比之间的数值关系,并预测了骨小梁的弹性模量.结果表明,本文模型较好地体现了松质骨的各向异性力学性质.对骨小梁的计算结果表明,骨小梁的弹性模量在676GPa~109GPa范围内,平均意义上的结果是921GPa.  相似文献
