The article concerns the complex determination process of the material parameters governing micropolar granular material with elasto-plastic material properties. Proceeding from a gradient-based method, we split the total set of parameters and the overall identification procedure into two major categories. These are, firstly, the identification of the parameters of a standard non-polar elasto-plastic continuum, and, secondly, the determination of the remaining parameters governing the micropolar part of the constitutive model. While the first set of parameters can be obtained from homogeneous triaxial tests on, e. g., granular, cohesive-frictional materials like sand, the second set can only be determined from inhomogeneous tests, such as biaxial tests including the onset and the development of shear bands. Following this, one can obtain the first part of the identification process from a simple inverse algorithm applied to the elasto-plastic material model of non-polar solids, while the second part requires a fully inverse computation in the sense of a back analysis of the underlying boundary-value problem. In the present article, this procedure is carried out by use of the semi-discrete sensitivity analysis. Finally, the whole model is applied to the data of Hostun sand taken at the universities of Grenoble and Stuttgart. Dedicated to Professor Franz Ziegler on the occasion of his 70th birthday.  相似文献

The clasto-plastic constitutive behaviors of continuous fiber reinforced composites under cyclic loadings are studied by the micromechanics method in which the equal-strain model is used in the fiber direction, the equal-stress model in the other directions. It is supposed that fiber is linearly elastic and matrix is clastic-viscoplastic. The constitutive equations of the matrix are described by Bodner-Partom's unified constitutive theory. Boron/Aluminum composite, as an example, is investigated in detail for an understanding of the stress-strain relations and initial yield behaviors of metal matrix composites. A meshless approach based on the moving least square method is developed for elasto-plasticity analysis, in which the incremental formulation is used. In this approach, the displacement shape functions are constructed by using the moving least square approximation, and the discrete governing equations for elasto-plastic material are constructed with the direct collocation method. The boundary conditions are also imposed by collocation. The method established is a truly meshless one, as it does not need any mesh, either for the purpose of interpolation of the solution variables, or for the purpose of construction of the discrete equations. It is simply formulated and very efficient, and no post-processing procedure is required to compute the derivatives of the unknown variables, since the solution from this method based on the moving least square approximation is already smooth enough. Numerical examples are given to verify the accuracy of the meshless method proposed for elasto-rdasticity analysis.  相似文献

We introduce a new energetic formulation for the inelastic rate-independent behavior of standard generalized materials. This formulation is solely based on the classical elastic energy-storage potential and a dissipation potential , and it replaces the classical variational inequalities which describe the flow rules for the inelastic variables like the plastic deformation and the hardening parameters. The energetic formulation has the major advantage that it is defined for a larger class of processes since it does not involve any derivatives of the strains or the internal variables, thus allowing for an analysis of processes involving sharp interfaces, localization or microstructure. Two new quantities are derived from and . First, this is the global dissipation distance on the manifold of internal states. Second, the reduced stored-energy density contains the comprised information of the elastic and plastic material properties via minimization of over the new internal variable. Several stability concept are derived and used to analyze failure mechanism. In this paper, a method for the design optimization of elasto-plastic truss structures is proposed based on parametric variational principles (PVPs). The optimization aims to find the minimum weight/volume solution under the constraints of allowable node displacements. The design optimization is a formulation of mathematical programming with equilibrium constraints (MPECs). To overcome the numerical difficulties of the complementary constraints in optimization, an iteration process, comprising a quadratic programming (QP) and an updating process, is employed as the optimization method. Furthermore, the elasto-plastic buckling of truss members is considered as a constraint in design optimization. A combinational optimization strategy is proposed for the displacement constraints and the buckling constraint, which comprises the method mentioned above and an optimal criterion. Three numerical examples are presented to show the validity of the methods proposed.  相似文献

The phenomenon of liquefaction is one of the most important subjects in Earthquake Engineering and Coastal Engineering. In the present study, the governing equations of such coupling problems as soil skeleton and pore water are obtained through application of the two-phase mixture theory. Using au-p (displacement of the solid phase-pore water pressure) formulation, a simple and practical numerical method for the liquefaction analysis is formulated. The finite difference method (FDM) is used for the spatial discretization of the continuity equation to define the pore water pressure at the center of the element, while the finite element method (FEM) is used for the spatial discretization of the equilibrium equation. FEM-FDM coupled analysis succeeds in reducing the degrees of freedom in the descretized equations. The accuracy of the proposed numerical method is addressed through a comparison of the numerical results and the analytical solutions for the transient response of saturated porous solids. An elasto-plastic constitutive model based on the non-linear kinematic hardening rule is formulated to describe the stress-strain behavior of granular materials under cyclic loading. Finally, the applicability of the proposed numerical method is examined. The following two numerical examples are analyzed in this study: (1) the behavior of seabed deposits under wave action, and (2) a numerical simulation of shaking table test of coal fly ash deposit.  相似文献
