Upper Subderivatives and Generalized Gradients of the Marginal Function of a Non-Lipschitzian Program

We obtain an upper bound for the upper subderivative of the marginal function of an abstract parametric optimization problem when the objective function is lower semicontinuous. Moreover, we apply the result to a nonlinear program with right-hand side perturbations. As a result, we obtain an upper bound for the upper subderivative of the marginal function of a nonlinear program with right-hand side perturbations, which is expressed in dual form in terms of appropriate Lagrange multipliers. Finally, we present conditions which imply that the marginal function is locally Lipschitzian.

Analysis of nonsmooth vector-valued functions associated with second-order cones

Let be the Lorentz/second-order cone in . For any function f from to , one can define a corresponding function f^soc(x) on by applying f to the spectral values of the spectral decomposition of x with respect to . We show that this vector-valued function inherits from f the properties of continuity, (local) Lipschitz continuity, directional differentiability, Fréchet differentiability, continuous differentiability, as well as (-order) semismoothness. ALMOST PERIODIC SOLUTIONS OF LASOTA-WAZEWSKA-TYPE DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH PIECEWISE CONSTANT DELAYS AND ALMOST PERIODIC TIME DEPENDENCE

By using the concept of almost periodic "sequence", that is, a real valued function on Z satisfying the Bohr almost periodic condition, sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of almost periodic solutions of Lasota-Wazewska-type differential equations with almost periodic time dependence.     

Formation of Bessel beams with continuously variable cone angle

A simple device capable to produce Bessel beams with variable cone angle is proposed. It is shown that the cone angle of the Bessel beam produced by the axicone placed inside the telescope depends on the position of the axicone and can be continuously varied. As a result of theoretical investigations a simple formula giving the cone half-angle on the parameters and position of axicone inside the telescope was derived. The possibility of the Bessel beam generation with the help of a proposed device was confirmed experimentally. Good qualitative and quantitative agreement with the theoretical predictions is obtained.     

On a certain Maximum Principle for Positive Operators in an Ordered Normed Space

The equation for a positive linear continuous operator is considered in an ordered normed space , where the cone is assumed to be closed and having a nonempty interior. Then the dual cone of K possesses a base . Generalizing the well known maximum principle for positive matrices an operator A is said to satisfy the maximum principle, if for any there exists a positive linear continuous functional which is both, maximal on the element Ax, i.e. , and positive on the element x, i.e. 0$$ " align="middle" border="0"> . This property is studied and characterized both analytically by some extreme point condition and geometrically by means of the behaviour under A of the faces of the cone K. It is shown that the conditions which have been obtained for finite dimensional spaces in earlier relevant papers are special cases of conditions presented in this paper. The maximum pinciple is proved for simple operators in the spaces and c.     

Bundles over Quantum Sphere and Noncommutative Index Theorem

The Noncommutative Index Theorem is used to prove that the Chern numbers of quantum Hopf line bundles over the standard Podle quantum sphere equal the winding numbers of the representations defining these bundles. This result gives an estimate of the positive cone of the algebraic K₀ of the standard quantum sphere.
