Taylor-Couette flow subject to a Coriolis force is studied experimentally and numerically. In the experiment, the Couette apparatus is mounted on a turntable with the axis of the cylinders orthogonal to the rotation vector of the turntable. The Coriolis force stabilizes the fluid against the onset of Taylor vortices and alters the velocity fields, both above and below the transition from the initial flow. At small dimensionless turntable frequencies, the transition yields time-independent Taylor vortices which are tilted with respect to the cylinder axis. At larger there is a direct transition to turbulence. We determine the first-order correction to the classical Couette initial flow, to account for the effects of the Coriolis force, by expanding in powers of. We present numerical results for the axial velocity (the only nonvanishing correction term to order) in the infinite-cylinder approximation. 相似文献

This paper investigates the rotating flow and heat transfer of a viscous fluid induced by a stretching surface. The nonlinear problem subject to a given skin friction at the boundary is solved. Analytic solution is obtained using homotopy analysis method. The velocity, temperature, and stretching velocity is calculated for different values of the rotation parameter (λ). ABSTRACTA striking feature of lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals confined in cylinder model exhibit double-twist director configurations. Evidence suggests that saddle-splay deformation is among the most important factors for the distortions of director. Previous researches limit the director to distort at a fixed plane (r-? plane) by using specific boundary conditions such as degenerate planar anchoring condition. In this work, we consider lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals confined between two coaxial cylinders with free-surface boundary conditions and Rapini-Papoular-type anchoring conditions. By using finite-difference iterative method to solve the numerical solution of Euler equation, we find that saddle-splay deformation leads to double-twist director configurations under free-surface boundary conditions, which consist of the result under degenerate planar anchoring conditions. Furthermore, at Rapini-Papoular-type anchoring conditions, saddle-splay deformation has a great influence on the director in the radial direction (r direction) and the director distorts in three-dimensional space. This paper focuses on the further development of a previously published semi-empirical method for time domain simulation of vortex-induced vibrations (VIV). A new hydrodynamic damping formulation is given, and the necessary coefficients are found from experimental data. It is shown that the new model predicts the observed hydrodynamic damping in still water and for cross-flow oscillations in stationary incoming flow with high accuracy. Next, the excitation force model, which is one component of the total hydrodynamic force model, is optimized by simulating the VIV response of an elastic cylinder in a series of experiments with stationary flow. The optimization is performed by repeating the simulations until the best possible agreement with the experiments is found. The optimized model is then applied to simulate the cross-flow VIV of an elastic cylinder in oscillating flow, without introducing any changes to the hydrodynamic force modeling. By comparison with experiment, it is shown that the model predicts the frequency content, mode and amplitude of vibration with a high level of realism, and the amplitude modulations occurring at high Keulegan–Carpenter numbers are well captured. The model is also utilized to investigate the effect of increasing the maximum reduced velocity and the mass ratio of the elastic cylinder in oscillating flow. Simulations show that complex response patterns with multiple modes and frequencies appear when the maximum reduced velocity is increased. If, however, the mass ratio is increased by a factor of 5, a single mode dominates. This illustrates that, in oscillating flows, the mass ratio is important in determining the mode participation at high maximum reduced velocities. 相似文献

In this work, we propose a new and efficient heteronuclear cross polarization scheme, in which adiabatic frequency sweeps from far off-resonance toward on-resonance are applied simultaneously on both the source and target spins. This technique, which we call as Simultaneous ADIabatic Spin-locking Cross Polarization (SADIS CP), is capable of efficiently locking both the source and target spins with moderate power even in the presence of large spectral distribution and fast relaxation. It is shown that by keeping the time-dependent Hartmann-Hahn mismatch minimal throughout the mixing period, polarization transfer can be accelerated. Experiments are demonstrated in a powder sample of L-alanine. 相似文献

针对逆合成孔径激光雷达对机动目标成像时存在方位多普勒时变的问题,提出了一种基于方位时频域keystone变换的机动目标逆合成孔径激光雷达方位成像快速算法.利用多分量线性调频子回波信号的调频斜率与起始频率的比值为常量这一特点,在方位时频域采用keystone变换将多分量线性调频信号同时转换为多分量单频信号,利用快速傅里叶变换实现方位聚焦.采用基于分数阶傅里叶变换和最小熵的线性调频参量估计方法,实现了对调频斜率与起始频率比值的精确、快速估计.结果表明,与现有的基于Radon-Wigner变换的距离-瞬时多普勒成像算法相比,所提出的算法成像效率大大提高,且能够保留更多的目标细节信息,适合于逆合成孔径激光雷达的实时成像. 相似文献

利用数值模拟的方法,通过改变冲击雷诺数Rej(20000-35000)、旋转数Ro(0-0.0117)等参数,分析旋转条件下半受限单孔冲击射流的流动和换热特性,讨论了旋转对冲击射流的流场结构和换热特性的影响.研究结果表明:冲击射流在离心力和哥氏力的共同作用下发生弯曲,造成冲击靶面上的冲击斑随着旋转数Ro的增加而不断偏移,显著影响了冲击的冷却效果.冲击靶面的平均Nu数随着冲击雷诺数Rej的增加而增加;当旋转数Ro增加时,冲击靶面的平均Nu数先增加,后减小,然后再增加.计算结果和试验结论基本一致. 相似文献

A nanofluid is composed of a base fluid component and nanoparticles, in which the nanoparticles are dispersed in the base fluid. The addition of nanoparticles into a base fluid can remarkably improve the thermal conductivity of the nanofluid, and such an increment of thermal conductivity can play an important role in improving the heat transfer rate of the base fluid. Further, the dynamics of non-Newtonian fluids along with nanoparticles is quite interesting with numerous industrial applications. The present predominately predictive modeling studies the flow of the viscoelastic Oldroyd-B fluid over a rotating disk in the presence of nanoparticles. A progressive amendment in the heat and concentration equations is made by exploiting the Cattaneo-Christov heat and mass flux expressions. The characteristic of the Lorentz force due to the magnetic field applied normal to the disk is studied. The Buongiorno model together with the Cattaneo-Christov theory is implemented in the Oldroyd-B nanofluid flow to investigate the heat and mass transport mechanism. This theory predicts the characteristics of the fluid thermal and solutal relaxation time on the boundary layer flow. The von K′arm′an similarity functions are utilized to convert the partial differential equations(PDEs) into ordinary differential equations(ODEs). A homotopic approach for obtaining the analytical solutions to the governing nonlinear problem is carried out. The graphical results are obtained for the velocity field, temperature, and concentration distributions. Comparisons are made for a limiting case between the numerical and analytical solutions, and the results are found in good agreement. The results reveal that the thermal and solutal relaxation time parameters diminish the temperature and concentration distributions, respectively. The axial flow decreases in the downward direction for higher values of the retardation time parameter. The impact of the thermophoresis parameter boosts the temperature distribution. 相似文献

为研究反应物当量比对旋转爆震波传播过程的影响,在圆盘形旋转爆震发动机上进行H2/air的旋转爆震实验研究,并统计分析了当量比对爆震波传播模态及参数的影响规律.实验结果表明,固定质量流率,同一种传播模态下,随着当量比的增大,爆震波的压力峰值及传播速度增大,且旋转爆震波的传播过程更加稳定.不同质量流率条件下,当量比对传播模态的影响规律不同.空气质量流率小于100 g/s时,旋转爆震波皆以单波模态传播.空气质量流率大于150 g/s时,随着当量比的增大,旋转爆震波的传播模态由单波模态向双波模态转变,再转变为不对称双波模态,最后又回到单波模态.并且在不对称双波模态中发现了低频振荡现象,振荡频率约为300 Hz.质量流率继续增大,燃烧室中发现了同向三波传播模态.随着质量流率的增加,双波模态的当量比下限降低,不对称双波模态的当量比上限增大,而双波与不对称双波模态的分界线受质量流率的影响较小. 相似文献
